Don't worry then! Modern science has debunked that '8 glasses of water a day' edict - when first espoused, it was apparently an idea pulled out of the air which no-one contested. These days, the thinking is that your total fluid intake should roughly equate to that - tea/coffee/juice/beer/wine/water all count, even food if you can calculate it's liquid content.

I'd be hard pressed to remember the last time I drank water from a tap - I only know that it's sometime within the last seven years as that's how long I've lived here, and it was so foul compared to the water back in Oz that I said never again. And being 50% Scottish, I refuse to buy bottles of the stuff when it should be free

Spot on BB, it's a load on BS - I am surrounded by people who walk around all day drinking from water bottles they re-fill at water chillers at every opportunity...I drink water at home that has been through a water filter, but not 8 bloody glasses...that other old nugget of 5 fruit and veg also gets on my wick - mind you still a glass of Cider, a Bloody Mary and a slice of Lemon in my Rum & Coke and that is 3!

In Thumrait we were encouraged to drink at least 10 pints of water a day although the normal temperature was 55C and as soon as you moved you were sweating!

True - but that doesn't mean they work though!

I've just finished the first of my twice daily 'ramble' around the village - takes about 30 minutes - during which I have to be careful with my knees or I suffer later. Don't know what I'll do next week when I'm back at work as twice a day will be out of the question.

And the weather here is quickly making walking a nightmare - 3c and the roads are currently being gritted :(

I feel the difference when the weather turns and I turn to tiger balm, which gives my knees a lovely warm glow (ready brek anyone) and by the feel of it I will using it on my elbows as well this winter!

I tend to get arthritus in my hands and feet, fingers lock up,can you use tiger balm there...or what about horse linament? If I use that I'll feel fit cos I'll be thinking I've just come out the changing rooms-mind you nobody would come within 20 feet of me!

Be hard to if your fingers are locked up <laugh>. My wife uses a handwarmer which helps a lot with the arthritis in her fingers - all sorts available, disposable ones which only hold the heat for less than an hour, or longer lasting ones like charcoal burning, battery operated or lighter fuel operated. Bonus is, none of them smell!

You have to careful where you use it, I would not use it on hands as it can stain clothes or anything else you touch<yikes> There are two kinds though there are white tiger balm and original the original does stain! I love the smell of it, it is also good for blocked sinus and apparently headaches(not sure how)
