No disgrace for Sole Power. Would have preferred the ground a bit faster. Traffic problems, ran on from stone last to get 4th. GLB, what a grand horse who will be back again next year. Music Master ran well to finish 3rd

Hate it when that happens I've done same with Kickboxer today, back it pretty much every time it runs but went for Confessional instead today because of its past form in the race

The rain probably done for Sole and you could question the ride but he still wouldn't have won today I think. Qatar Racing sold that winner for £25k...how much do they pay Spencer each year <laugh>

Bookies must love Sole Power, first time in his life this season he won back to back, won 3 in a row and people getting carried away. Just because he has a turn of foot when everything falls perfect for him, ie getting into trouble then getting out just in time. Hes always been a bookie horse.

    Beaten fav 7 times

    Beaten 2fav 6 times

Arrives on the scene at 100/1 beating the smashed up 6/4 shot Starsspangledbanner in the true bookie horse style, comes and nails Shea Shea at Ascot last year as well.

Ive backed him plenty of times, races he should have been winning, im sure we all have, caught him once or twice, but been burned most of the time. Decent horse but the fact he was 5/2 for a 6f Group 1 on good ground in England yesterday shows that plenty of people got carried away with him stringing a couple together against the same average horses.

He should have one more run in the Abbaye if the ground is decent and then retired because thats his last chance of winning a race, should of won it as a 4yo when I was on obviously :D

You'd have to think he'd have been nearer even money over 5f though don't you think Boris? Very hard to string 3 sprint Grade Ones together though. He's a bloody good sprinter in my book.

He is a good 5f horse, maybe the best weve seen over here for a while, no disputing that. But still a friend of the bookies, owned by bookies!

True. I think Slade Power would have proved superior to Sole Power just a pity he's being whisked off to stud. Suppose Paddy needs a few pound seeing his profits reported to be down! All ifs and buts I know but I'd think Slade Power would have won that yesterday but as you say the winner looks like he could rule next year. By the way, I'd put him into the 'bookies horse' category too! Much more so this season than Sole Power! Think I backed him few runs ago in some listed race at some gaff track at short enough price and he was well stuffed!

I think Sole Power is being sold a little short there Boris. The winner of a million and a half pounds and won or been placed in 18 stakes races from his 37 starts. Take or leave the quality of the fields in his G1 wins, it's hard to knock two wins apiece in the King's Stand and Nunthorpe.

On this season that would be fair to say, everyone saw the potential of G Force in that hot 3yo handicap earlier in the season and he got turned over at short odds twice, but to be fair to him, he was thrown in deep after winning only a handicap off 87 and had some excuses. He was drawn out of it at Sandown and at York he missed the kick badly and took a whip to the face when challenging. Goodwood didnt seem to suit him and then he got no run in the Nunthorpe or he would have went close.

He looks to have come of age yesterday so the time to judge him will be the rest of the season and next season. I think he could be more dominant than Sole Power ever was.

Maybe im being a bit harsh on Sole Power because we rarely see dominant sprinters over here, yet we expect dominance in every other division. But I do think he was beaten in a lot of races he shouldnt have been beaten in and he should have been more consistent for a horse with his class. He is very dependant on specific circumstances to do the business, fast ground, a daring ride, the gaps at the right time, that is not a champion sprinter for me. He has personality, ill give him that.

I think that you will find that Slade Power has not been packed off to stud but is being prepared for a trip to Oz for a showdown with the World’s leading sprinter. Had Slade Power lined up for the Sprint Cup he would have been odds on judged on his July Cup win.

According to the Racing Post, Sole Power is going to the Abbaye but as he almost certainly will not get fast ground punters should keep their Euros in their pocket. It was officially ‘good’ (bon) the year he was touched off by Tangerine Trees in a three way photo.

Sorry, I meant packed off to stud after his international races. He won't be racing in Ire/UK next season was my point.
