Review embargo is always a red flag. First reviews coming out say it's bang average, sterile and boring. Off the list.
Might get it in a steam sale to play on my 1440p 144Hz OLED ultrawide monitor at some point. See how my 3080 deals with it and makes it look. PC negates the need for an xbox. PS5, Switch, PC. Done.
From one of the only review places I trust. Sounds more naff by the day: There is a major problem with the spaceship side of things though, which is perhaps the biggest and most baffling surprise of the game. Despite all the talk of exploration and navigating the inky blackness of space you don’t actually fly anywhere yourself. Apart from combat, your spaceship is almost entirely superfluous, since the game encourages you to use fast travel at all times, right from the start. No matter what else the game gets wrong though it’s the space navigation and obsession with fast travel that is the most preposterous. It’s an abject failure of both game design and technology, as well as being an unintended admission that travelling through the game world(s) is something so tedious you’ll want to avoid it from the very first moment. https://metro.co.uk/2023/09/01/our-first-evening-with-starfield-first-impressions-of-bethesdas-rpg-19425093/?ico=mosaic_gaming
Dont use fast travel then. Peeps just looking for anything to **** on this game bit weird tbh People who like and know what a Bethesda rpg is will love the fuking thing. PS fanboys stick to 3rd person rehash ****e
You could but "...outer space is just an empty 3D box completely divorced from whichever planet you’re above, with landing and take-off all happening on autopilot in a brief cut scene." I wanted this game to be epic. We'll see. Sounds a bit letdown-y.
It all depends on how you approach it, getting from one place to another was always going to be a cut scene (better than a loading screen imo). Once you are there you're free to explore and there seems to be a ton of side content to keep things interesting. I've read a few reviews now and the negatives seen picky and done by PS fanboys who drop in PS exclusive comparisons. It's also early days where reviewers have been blasting through the game to be able to add their comments and the game is clearly not designed to be played that way. The ability to make everything your own from suit to weapons to the ship and outposts is going to be brilliant.
You have to use fast travel to go to new planets well sort of. This is generally how I'll do it. Enter ship take off (cut scene) fly about and explore, battle other ships or board a ship/space station you find. This could take some time. Once done I'll select where I want to go and the cut scene lands my ship. Reviewers are not happy with this but I am. It's the people who want to buzz about quickly that are not happy as it's cut scene followed by cut scene for them. It's not supposed to be played like that so tough ****.
Like i said if you like and know what a bathesda rpg is then Youll love it, you k ow what to expect. Peeps thinking you can make a game with a 1000 explorable planets and then thinking that would be seamless Id imagine a modder will provide a fix for those people, like open citys mod in Skyrim. Cini needs to go play starcitizen if he wants a space simulation cos Starfield aint that and never said it was gonna be as far as i can remember. And he deffo has a ps i dont give a **** what he says
done about 65 hours on Baldurs Gate 3, still going strong. Amazing how nearly every single NPC has there own character and feels worth talking to. I normally skip all that **** if they are all samey
it's turn based fighting though. Not sure if you are into that thing but the ability to do what you want to progress the story is what makes it shine
Course, mass effect, knights of the old republic, fallout and couple wargammer ones. Dont mind turn based at all can be a really good system if its done well. Ive seen a few baldurs vids and the cut scenes look sick
I don't 'want' anything in particular, just a fun game. Metro games is the old gamecentral from teletext days. One of the only reliable and least biased review sites I've ever found. Their opinions generally always match my own and they're certainly not PS fanboys. They've not reviewed it properly yet because of the embargo so that link was just initial thoughts. But it sounds like a 7/10 coming right up. Quite good but not a classic.
You mean like where I said I have a PS5, a switch and a PC? That generally might give it away that I definitely have a PS yeah. I get whatever game I want that sounds good. Haven't yet found a need for an xbox when I've got a PC. Can't see that day coming anytime soon.
Did you ever play the originals? The banter could be quite funny, sometimes it would end with your party members fighting each other to the death.
