Wreckfest 2 announced today, didn't think it was ever gonna happen. One of the 2 games I'll pay full price on release day 1 for. (gta VI is the other, obviously)

Looks good. Used to love demolition derby on PS1 I think ?

We’ve just got a PS5 at home. My little un likes Genshin Impact, Sims, Subnautica. And I’m playing RDR2. But they are all old PS4 games

Had a look at some YouTube vids for the best PS5 games. But none of them really jump out at me tbh

maybe elden ring and ghost of Tsushima maybe ? I don’t know. Most of them kind of look the same, shooting, slashing monsters or aliens

Hit me up lads. What are the best ones to get ? I love GTA and RDR2 (obvs) and generally open world games are my fave

That's what Wreckfest is, Demolition Derby with the added bonus of online. One of the few games where trolling is part of it. How can you get pissed off with a troll if that's part of the game? You having trouble with another driver? Nvm, just get in a bus with a cow catcher on the front and drive the wrong way until you get revenge, leaving them a burning wreck.
So much fun.

Brilliant. It's the simple things that can make a game and getting revenge on another player is one of those things.

Worth getting Wreckfest 1 ?

well, the PC version is a tenner on steam with all DLCs, so well worth it. No idea how much the console version is though, any ore than 30 I'd wait for 2, though don't know exactly when it's out.

Golden age was between 1990-2010, personally I'd have about 1995-2005 (SNES, PS1, PS2 and some individually great titles from later nintendo systems). It's not that there haven't been any good games since then but it's just that you can count them and they're noteworthy. Once big companies appreciated how to milk money from customers they stopped being concerned with making great games and more on how to maximise profits.

In a world where the microtransactions from Fifa ultimate team make more money each year than Elden Ring made then there's an argument they're just giving the customer what they want. I'd point to 2010 when Activision Blizzard spent a chunk of money making a new game (Starcraft 2, not played it myself but understand it was popular) and in the same month put a fancy mount players could buy in another of their games (World of Warcraft, also pretty popular at the time) - they made far more money from a single item an artist made than they did from the whole game they'd paid to develop. Why would the company who made Fortnite (or other games that work on a similar model) bother making a new game when they could just make a new outfit and put it for sale for a few quid and make more money for no investment/risk?

Most of the better games now are from the non-mainstream companies. Companies like From Software and Larian who, whether you like their game or not, are at least prioritising the idea of "make a good game and the profits will look after themselves" - kind of need those companies to succeed and the likes of Ubisoft to fail. Unlikely though, chances are they'll just be bought out and slowly changed. Same thing happened in movies and tv (companies like Disney + WB just buying out the independants, etc.).

yes should be able to pick it up for very little i would have thought considering it is only £18 new

Might jump on that then, gonna need something whilst waiting for GTA6

Anybody seen The Precinct ? Looks like a nod to early GTA top down games with a Hill St Blues vibe.

it's good for quick bursts unlike lots of games these days

Yeah, I don't have the time to pour hours into a game searching for the hidden scrolls to unlock some super powered sword or whatever it is.

Quite like RDR2 though for doing one or two missions and then turning it off. Or just going out to some random location and lobbing molotov cocktails at passers by lol

RDR2 is the GOAT.

Yeah it's an awesome game. I really enjoyed the original, but RDR2 is such an immersive experience. Just going for a ride out on misty morning through the woodlands, down to a river and watching the day unfold can be a really amazing experience. Superb story line to go with it all too.

I played a game called the Wild Bunch on ZX Spectrum when I was a kid. It was a mainly text based Western game, where you had to hunt down the Wild Bunch and turn them into the law. It had this great (very simple) graphic section where you could challenge people to a gunfight and try to draw first.

RDR2 is like everything that I imaged the Wild Bunch could evolve into.

Just finished Elden Ring. Fair play, it was pretty awesome.

Would say first though that I almost stopped after 7-10 hours when I was struggling to get anywhere with the game. I don't mind hard difficulty but the systems seemingly went out of their way to not explain themselves. It's all very good people saying the point is that you have to work it all out but I don't buy that, I'd not played the Souls games preiously and made a point of going in blind. Turns out that if I had played the Souls games in advance it would have helped with a lot of the basic stuff the game just seemed to take for granted you'd know. I think that's bad game design to be honest.

Once I got beyond that the game was amazing. I hit two brick walls, one was Melikith (who I gave up on, went away to lvl and gear and came back to) and Melania (who I actually found not as hard as Melikith but I was far more leveled and equipped by then. I didn't look up any guides until that first brick wall and then following that I just looked everything up to be honest.
Hated this game, although I can see why some would like it., visually it's great , has some epic scenes in it like coming across a king Kong sized troll being attacked by a horde or goblins one time while wandering aimlessly around because the game gives you no guidance whatsoever, was way to hard to beat the bosses, and when you do they morph into phase two boss so you have to die a million times all iver again, nah **** all that hard work I'm like luv I want to chill when gaming not get frustrated.

In other news I've nearly perfectly clocked worms end

Few more campaigns to make all gold but I'm getting there.

Just a brilliant simple game
