oh yes, one of my all time favourite goals. Was stood in the lower east, so was right in line with it. Went like an absolute rocket into the far corner.
It's the list of players we had that astonishes me. We had the eqivalent of Messi (Keegan), world cup winner Ball, Worthington etc. Will we ever see the likes again? I doubt it, unless money stops talking. We could compete financially then. I don't want us to now. I'd hate for us to attempt a chelski , sheik mancity or the like and be reviled throughout football. A bit of an off-topic rant but I feel better for saying it
And a good time to review all our league goals of last season too:
You're getting your disallowed Saints goals mixed up. Keegan scored with an absolute pearler of a volley into the far corner, against Man U, at the Ol' Girl. It was disallowed because at the moment of contact, Dave Armstrong was standing in a slightly offside position. Those were the days when you could be offside even if you were standing offside out on the wing. But even in his position he was not obscuring the goalkeeper and not interfering with play. Today, it would have stood. Keegan reckons it's the best goal he never scored. And it was a pretty bit of good team play too. Here's that team goal again with better sound: And here's Keegan's disallowed goal, against Man U. I bet if that had been Man U scoring at OT, in any era, the goal would have stood: Am I cynical..? What me..?
