Vote was limited for me. i was born in 79, so i only considered those since that I have watched. TYson is the greatest for me. The power, speed, fear factor and massive legacy even though he never fulfilled his potential. If he hadnt spent three quarter of his career snorting coke out of prostitutes arses his achievements would be massive
Surely snorting coke out of a prostitutes arse is a massive achievement in itself........if it isn't I'm going to have to bin all my bloody trophies
Both like drugs, both like woman, both were wreckless, both were silly with money and both are sociopaths. I'm worried about you.
Do you remember the first Bruno - Tyson fight, when Bruno caught him with a beaut and knocked Tyson half way across the ring? Unfortunately, it had more of a terrifying effect upon Bruno, who looked upon the staggering Tyson, now there for the kill, and though "What the **** have I done? He'll kill me now!"
Mayweather is technically the best boxer but as MITO said, it doesn't make him the greatest. For me, being the greatest is much more than being technically good. You need to have a wow factor as well - Ali, Tyson certainly had that. They made people watch the sport with their styles. Compare that to Mayweather who only attracts crowds because of his annoying persona outside of the ring. Not saying he's one of the greats but Prince Naseem was also very good. Certainly one of the most exciting boxers I've seen.
Tyson in his pomp was the best there's ever been in terms of a demolition man, he was ****ing brutal, his upper cut was lethal! But, he was never a great technician and his lifestyle saw him ruin his career. Sugar Ray Leonard was probably my overall favourite, as he was both a boxer and a banger, beating the likes of Hearns, Duran and Hagler during his career, he was great to watch
Prince Naseem was good but he was a ****ing bell end. Couldn't stand him, loved it when he finally got his **** rocked by Barrera. I don't like those dipshit, mouthy a-hole boxers. Same reason I can't stand David Haye.
Teófilo Stevenson was probably as good as Ali,but they never fought due to the Cuban having amateur status.Would have been a cracking fight.
yeh remember it well. To be honest though I think it was made more of by our media. I think it surprised Tyson more than hurt him.
That's the funny thing with a fella like Tyson.....who the hell was ever going to see him box when he was younger and think "I need him to be better technically"? He just snapped necks for breakfast. Sugar Ray was utterly brilliant but most of what I remember him from was on me dad's videos...I used to be amazed how he got so much power into his combo's when he was fighting up close. Lightning fast as well.
Glad someone else remembers Leonard. The demolition of Duran (5 times more fearsome in his pomp than Pacheao) was one of the highlights of boxing in 80's, if not all time.
I said sugar ray earlier. Another sad end there. Duran was legendary enough It amazes me how we seem to have a this generation only for somethings and for others today is muck compared to then. Football seems full of those convinced the gods came to earth and played football in the 60s.
