If Howe gets it wrong it'll be interesting seeing the mental gymnastics as people try to assign blame elsewhere. There's no point hiring Dofs at Newcastle, so let him get on with it. Manius Aquillius springs to mind
I'd be more inclined to sell longstaff.... We need depth and I see willock 4th or 5th in line to play midfield atm.. He's been needed when not in Europe.
From What I've seen of Willock this season, I'd rather give Alfie Harrison a berth on the bench. Last thing of note I remember Willock doing is that incredible assist in the 6-1 hammering of Spurs. Apart from that he blows so hot and cold (mostly cold) that I can't see the point in keeping him. I'd prefer a reliable 7/10 player rather than one that does something spectacular every 15 games.
He's not been great since a long term injury, but the point is that we will presently need him if we get just one injury. I'd prefer to add a player and have Longstaff sold. Skimming too close to the top for me that's all.
Longstaff is HG though, another issue. Personally think willock sold and Longstaff should be sixth choice midfield, behind the usual three, Miley plus a new signing who can actually deputise for Joelinton.
It we would mean signing two cms to strengthen. The easier solution is one and sell someone worse than willock. I think he wants to go though he's not going to want to sit on the bench and will want to be back in London
They both need replacing. Willock because he's always injured anyway and Longstaff because he isn't at the required level. If we can get £25m for Willock and £10m for Longstaff, just do it. Go European and replace them both with better for the same money or less.
Ideally yes, but that's not easy and costs more money. If they did that fine, but it'll be one out one in I bet.
Don’t totally agree. There is a group between ‘kids’ and ‘established players’. Those kids who can become the next level with coaching and playing regularly. That’s the group we should be looking at imo. Don’t ask names as I don’t scour the world but our scouts should know who.
My guess is would more likely be a 6 month -12 month notice period but always possible to come to a ‘deal’.
And if he gets it right it will be interesting to see the mental gymnastics as some people still try to identify him as getting wrong.
That was more about being against signing players around 25 years old who aren't any better than what we have
Iiverpool made none and won the league, so it's evident that signings aren't a good idea necessarily.
