Well, you do, for a start! You even keep a list of what I write so that you can quote me later! That's not only sad but also very, very creepy. Clearly, you hang on my every word, so I think it's a given, in the minds of most people, that I wind you up constantly. Hell, you must get wound up simply by noting that I'm viewing the site! I am confident that people can tell, by the way in which I am constantly ripping the piss out of you, that far from being "wound up," I am loving this board, and the endless opportunities it provides me with to "own" you.
Nope it is always a Mickey Mouse Cup to us and the other Big Clubs. All the other clubs take it seriously as it is a chance of winning something and Spurs would take the LDV Van Trophy seriously if they were in it.
I will take note of that. And if you should reach the final, Im sure I'll be reading your postings about what a nuisance it is to have to appear at Wembley in this piddly little cup final.
We wouldn't say no to winning it of course. But ultimately the COC is only of 'major importance' to a small club.
We know how much this tin pot cup meant to the spuds (even though they had no chance of winning it), so as a consolation prize, here it is again. Straight from their own official League Cup final Party pack. HIAG you might want to ask a grown up to help you cut it out please log in to view this image
It certainly seemed to mean a lot to that "small club" Chelsea, and their insignificant manager. Sorry, you'll have to try harder.
Like I said, the big clubs wouldn't say no to winning it. But ask Chelsea or Arsenal if they think it is of 'major importance' and they will tell you that the League, Champions League and FA cup are the important competitions.
The FA cup is of minor importance too. In terms of access to Europe, it ranks no higher than the COC. Both give entry to the Europa League to the winners.
The FA cup has a far more prestigious history and stature though, that is unless you're saying you haven't won anything of any significance since 1961 ?
Because it's been going longer, that's all. In reality, the same teams all compete in both. It ranks the same in terms of Europe as the COC. There used to be a competition called The Cup Winners Cup, which was then regarded as being the next most important competition to the European Cup. It had more importance then - now, not so much.
Ask any team or fans which cup they would prefer to win, the FA cup or the Capital one cup. Which answer do you think they would give ?
Like I say, it has more history. But, it doesn't carry the prestige it used to, not now The Cup Winners Cup is no more.
Maybe it has lost a bit of its sparkle. But it's still a major honour. Personally I thought it went through the doldrums a few years back, especially when the big teams were fielding weakened sides. But in the last 3-4 years it seems to have picked up some of its prestige again. I still ask you though, if you asked any team which trophy they would prefer to win out of the FA cup or Capital one cup, which answer do you think they would give ?
I asked many Wigan fans the other year would they take FA Cup win over them staying in the PL and they all said yes as it makes you a part of history and can't be taken away. I think all fans would feel the same. what really pisses me off is the ****ing play off trophy finals - what is that all about ? A mini tournement for teams not good enough to win their league or get automatic promotion. And they then have final at Wembley FFS - it's wrong as the Champions seem to get ignored
