He was on his last year , surely we should be looking to recoup some of the money spent for the last 14 years developing him ? Makes a mockery of the academy bond scheme asking us to pay for the academy then give away players for free. The £20m plus from the Murphys sales should have partly gone into the academy.
Thank you for warm welcome. there are some players that get into the premiership and lets just say they are a joe average player, who had some good luck. i believe tim was one of these players. I believe he is now getting found out, sadly at our expense. Re matthews, its tough one.. if tim had some solid competition he would now be out the team, so i fear he will keep the no 1 shirt because we have not go a solid challenger at present. He will cost us more goals as the championship will be too physical for tim krul.
Hello rossi77 I highlighted that the goalkeeper position was the Achilles heel during pre season as Matthews looked like a startled rabbit resulting in soft goals and silly mistakes so I was delighted to sign Krul. I must admit that other than the Holland penalty shoot out heroics and vague memories of him playing for Toon I know little about him. Having played 5 games and letting in 11 goals averaging -2.2 goals a game we will need to score 3 ourselves to have a chance of winning . I would personally give him 10 games and hope that he finds form before playing McGovern. Releasing Matthews already looks like another stupid mistake along with so many others. Despite Krul's indifferent start (and THAT goal against WBA!!), he had definitely improved and need a brilliant save grfr Mount last Wednesday.
Well here we go again , Remi Matthews had a terrible pre season got shipped off to Bolton conceding 28 goals in 18 with just 1 clean sheet resulting in them getting relegated. Krul has divided the fans with the amount of goals conceded and looks like having a battle to keep the 1 shirt. Fully expecting a new signing in this area soon.
