I agree that the order should be Krul, Mathews and then ..... Mathews is home grown so also helps the matches squad quota. On Saturday neither Passlack, Trybull nor Buendia were in the squad. When Lewis is fit the problem will ease slightly.
Can we have the REAL DD back please??? Joking aside, an excellent post DD and we've scored 5 good team goals and could EASILY have been more and Rhodes should of had a hat trick. His penalty was saved and he had a fairly easy chance in the 2nd half. Edit - Are you coming up for the Under 23 game on 31st August??? I want to be in the ground for kick off though!!!
I think I finish work 8pm that week on the Friday so probably not, I will be going on Sunday though to the big one. I'll check the dates of the other u23s may even see Holty in the dug out.
Oh dear this article claims Matthews is signing for Bolton on loan and may join permanently. https://norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/norwich-keeper-set-for-bolton-loan/ To have him at the club since he was a boy develope him into a promising player then release him at 24 on the cheap is pretty dumb ,if this turns out to be true. .
I am sure we thought exactly the same about Rudd, and even Steer, where is he now? The fact is it is very seldom a goalie will come through apprenticeship and junior football and go on to be a first class player. Only 92 goal keepers can play in any round of matches, and most of them would be fairly average at best. It is probably the most cutthroat position in which to play. Outfield players can always fill in in other positions than the one they are predominantly used in. Keepers are a one trick pony.
Remi to Bolton confirmed by the club. I hope there isn’t a clause for a permanent deal, would seem like jumping the gun a bit. Give him the opportunity if he impresses in the championship bring him back, if he’s not bad and not great then let them have hin
Yes, so did I but when he was mentioned on here as one we had let go, I thought it worth mentioning that Villa weren't too impressed either!
Well, it certainly seems as though we've seen the last of Remi Matthews playing for NCFC - All I can add is Good Luck to him and look forward to seeing him in December.
krul had one or two decent seasons in the prem, but classing him as a top class keeper.. come on - In the prem, he was classed consistently as the 18th to 20th best keeper in the prem when he played. When newcastle wanted to get rid of him, he went to either psv or ajax and failed to make the first team, and they wanted to ship him back to newcastle. but newcastle refused as they knew he is well past his sell-by date. he then ended up playing for a average team somewhere in the dutch league, who did not want to sign him on full time and also wanted to ship him back to newcastle. and again newcastle did not want him back. he then signed for Brighton as second choice and sat on the bench for the season because he was nowhere near the standard of the other keepers. then in my opinion, we wrongly bought him. historically most top prem keepers that drop down a league rarely make it, as they do not get the protection that they got in the prem, and as i do not class krul as a decent keeper, (but i really hope that i wrong) but i believe there will be more mistakes to come from him.
Only if that was stipulated in the deal it's not an automatic condition, as 'Arry found to his cost a few years ago. Edit :- I just looked it up it was Lua Lua who scored against his parent club in 2004, since then, the rules have been changed so that a loaned player can NOT play against his parent club.
Was looking forward to seeing Mathews on Tuesday night. Spose it will be McGovern now. Unless we press on with Krul to try and get him over his bad performance.
