The problem with friendlies is average players look good because there are no real tackles flying. Other players look average, because they need the challenge of a real game to get them fired up. Markovic will no doubt be given a chance this season and it is up to him to take it, or Klopp will get ridas fast as the proverbial off a shovel.

I didn't really watch it mate, I hadn't long been in from work and I was sat outside in the sun for a bit too

 

First half was dull. We played in front of them repeating all the same old issues weve seen so many times.

Second half we were in behind them loads.

Linesman was a filthy manc... you can always tell.

Overall it wasnt great. Not sure what learning or improvements are on show realy.

Woodburn showed hes got a great turn on him. Really good way of combining taking the ball in abd turning to go in one.

Kent did well enough too.

Overall... meh didn't learn much here.

 

Woodburn seems to have been the standout so far, 16 sounds like has a bright future if he can continue to develop. Be nice to get someone through from the academy.

 

And he's Welsh

 

Just don't give him a cap now like you did to Wilson and ruin his development

 

Wilsons done ok.. dunno what 5bis ruin his development stuff is.

Im just glad we are moving the guys on. When sterling and ibe were 17 and 18 we moved silva, ince and amoo. They came though u21s then and now weve moved both ibe and sterling for different reasons and kent ojo and wilson and a couple more are asking whend their shot.

The fact is theres a huge gap between u21s and real league football and its very tough to progress on. Its fitness, stamina, knowing the runs to make and when to pass and when not to. Very hard on young lads.

Id love to see another couple come though but its really tough.

Brannagan for example is prob as good as lallana ever was when young but hes not going to get a game. I dont know how hes going to progress any more.

We will have to see

 

Maybe if England stopped poaching our youngsters we wouldn't need to cap them as early!!

Lloyd Jones No surprise that Wilson was called up to the full squad in the same month that Jones stopped playing for Wales and changed his allegiance to England.

 

Jones was no where near the Liverpool first team let alone for England first team though so there was no real meaning to him switching allegiances. If he didn't want to play for Wales could just refuse the call up

 

And jones has no ****ing chance ever to play for england so..... yeah like that grealish lad at villa... its like karma really.

Exactly mate, but it shows how far we've come. I look at players like Ben Turner (just signed for Burton Albion) who turned us down in the past, I bet he is kicking himself now, same with Lloyd Jones.
