Been in Germany - now at Basel airport Switzerland. Bloody German efficiency??? Motorway back to airport was closed. Should have been on 11:55 flight, missed it and now on 6pm. Worst part was that I arrived at aiport at 11:35 and strolled in as I knew I was too late. Just as I reached Security they gave me a name call over the tannoy. Everything beeped at security and I was delayed taking extra stuff off and out of my bag and then I sprinted through the airport Peter Kay "Dad running" style to flop on the desk covered in sweat as they said the door to the plane was closed. I was looking at the plane. No point moaning at the staff though, they have a procedure to follow,
I remember when my family and I missed our flight coming home from a holiday back in 2005. This was slightly more problematic as were in Atlanta. Our flight from Miami to Atlanta was delayed and we got into Atlanta 30 mins before the flight back home was due to take off. We legged it through the airport to the right gate, found the plane still there. Great! But they had shut the gate. Bastards! We then had to watch the plane taxi away from the gate which was the most infuriating sight ever. My dad used all the swear words under the sun and hammering on the AirFrance office door (no answer despite there definitely being people inside), my sister was struggling to breathe due to her asthma and to top it all off, our luggage was on the flight we should have been on. So the upshot of it all was we got another flight to Manchester and our luggage ended up in Paris!
I think the staff were expecting a moan from me, but what is the point? It is not their fault. It wasn't my fault either that the motorway was closed, but I am not the Queen, so they can't hold up a flight just for me. I think it is unfair when airline staff get ****e verbally when something doesn't go right for a passenger. I just took it on the chin and let the lady book me on the next flight home for 420 euros!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Having been in that situation I do sympathise. It would be OK if you actually made it but doing it all for nothing is very demoralising!
Plane couldn't leave now with luggage belonging to a passenger not on board....they would have had to unload it.
Excellent stuff. How could anyone forget him. Must have been a nightmare playing in the back 4 with him behind you! And Roger Miller's dance too - fab!
Oscar Pistorius to be released from prison on Tuesday. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-34540694
Brilliant. Mind you, that run where he passed to his left back who promptly put him through down the wing suggests they were used to him!
Guess who's back, back again. That vaguely familiar forum guy is back, tell a friend. Well what a **** up my last couple of days have been. My flight from Helsinki to Hong Kong (with connection to Brisbane) got cancelled for poorly explained reasons so i get re-booked and was given the privilege of spending 24 hours and 2 extra nights in Airport hotels and then on arrival got told that a few hours before landing my dog (see pic) got attacked and mauled by two mastiffs who broke out of their yard and is in a messed state. After eventually getting home my dad calls and says that he's depressed that im gone and the owner of the mastiffs got in touch to offer to pay for any vet bills and give a seemingly sincere promise it wont happen and beg to not report his mongrels for their attack..... On top of all that being on holiday has caused me to miss 2 great saints wins with my only recompense being watching Shane Long bury the ball in an international.......against my national team.
Obviously if you shoot 4 shots through a toilet door you can't miss the person inside (unless it's spiderman clinging to the ceiling) and you get a year in jail for that. It's not as if he even saw a burglar which he didn't because there wasn't one! Crazy world.
Moral issue. If you don't report this will you forgive yourself if they attack other dogs or a even a person.
Aye, I'm deprived of sleep as it is and left with the moral quandary as to the fate of two mastiffs. Quick summary of facts: The owner of the offending dogs has called to apologize and offer to pay for bills, he leases/rents part of his property to someone else for a bit of extra income...the sub-letter was the one who was negligent apparently and didn't shut the gate properly and allowed for the mastiffs to escape to attack mine. On one hand the owner seems to genuinely care as he's willing to cover any costs and is honestly sorry, and the mistake was made by a sub-letter. On the other the dogs have escaped they yard before and were caught by the local council..which carries cautions and security upgrades, which were apparently not properly implemented by the owner. I'm watching my dog limp about and struggle to move atm and am genuinely at a loss...the angry side of me wants to see the mastiffs destroyed and the owner punished (which by australian law is upto 18 months in jail for an attack of this nature)and he's been warned to stop the dogs escape in the past..on the other hand my own dog has been the aggressor before and is still alive due to the forgiveness of of my former neighbor who forgave him for a similar attack a few years ago... So, i'm left in a pickle..any thoughts?
