The first time you see Eau Rouge 'in real life' is quite something....

I've just done one of my more pleasurable fixes for someone this evening. Her 16-bit Sega MegaDrive hasn't worked in about 15 years and it took 20 minutes to wake up again from its slumbers. Of course, I had to test out Sonic's running and jumping ability, and I got him onto level 2 fairly smartly. Still got it. :)

The owner is suitably thrilled and that's always pleasing for a fixer.

Meh, better than Thruxton on an Easter Monday with a bag of whatever Easter eggs I had left? Never! :p

Oh I used to love those Easter Monday trips to Thruxton each year... Not so the journey home feeling sick from all the chocolate though.

Just looked it up. 1992. I had stopped going by then. Very sad.

Was a regular pilgrimage for my dad, me and my bro. We'd definitely have been there at the same time at some point.

Was horrific. The car flipped into I think a drainage ditch. Landed upside down. I vividly remember the underside of the car heading toward where we were, then that terrible, overbearing silence you feel when you know someone has been killed (though it wasn't announced at the time, you knew).

I was at the inaugural meeting of the newly refurbished Thruxton circuit in 1968. Went a few times after that, mainly for bike racing as a few of my mates raced bikes back then. There was nothing to beat the smell of a horde of 2-stroke engines dropping gears as they went through Club Corner! Saw a few crashes but fortunately never saw anyone killed. That must have been awful.

I love the Brabham Dart car . The one after ground effect was banned . Not clever enough to post on here though :-( I also loved the dead hedgehog symbols the mclarens used when they beat the Williams , Williams had Sega as sponsors .

This is something of what an F1 car should look like. In fact, they really ought to have thinner slicks, smaller super/turbo charged engines and be smaller overall. Modern rubber would mean they would still get a great deal of traction, though it would be limited compared to the silly balloon tyres of now, and the cars would be able to overtake each other because there would be room. Even at Monaco perhaps. A decent roll cage and modern carbon fibre cockpit materials would see that the driver was safe enough. Indeed, it would be another expression of pushing the limits of technical ability without one car taking up all the width of the track. Pretty little thing is perhaps an understatement for the Dino 156.

Met Caitlin Moran last night. Now I can imagine she's not everyone's cup of tea, but she's very clever, and very funny. She's written something called her Moranifesto which she's releasing in March. Honestly, it's superb - like Russell Brand if he used his brain rather than just a thesaurus.

OMG, I was there with the wife and kids, I really thought the car was coming over the fence. Welling-up with the memory. Poor lad.

I've been reading her column for a while now and also read her books, so I'll be looking out for that. I find her very witty and she seems grounded (though a bit crazy - but aren't we all these days?)

Don't think it is badly researched but the author is using only one criterion...does a player appear for 50% of available playing time. Using that, Long (being a supersub) appears to be a flop, but he isn't if his goals are valuable to us. You will notice di Mario appears in the flops chart and in the most used new players chart, because he has appeared just under 50% of the time. I would have buried that last chart if I was trying to make a point.

P.s. Always glad to see Spurs feature in a negative article however dubious the interpretation of data is. :)

Plus they couldn't be bothered to check their spelling. In a published article, no less.! Look at SUCCESSFUL with only two S's.

Some card at work took the sign off the laundry chute 'WHITES ONLY' and put it on the changing room door.
