It's 2 days every 5 years. It's not exactly something that happens every week. It will all die down soon.
I set one up and it was removed by the mods. I'd understand if they had banned political conversation in here as well but they didn't. Stupid decision.
Who are the genuine working men (obviously not women)? Shopworkers, footballers, film makers, gardeners, farm workers, solicitors, IT guys, barmen, dockers....these are all workers. Sadly, we do not have a vast manufacturing industry anymore, so most work in various service industries. Goes back to my comments about language of the thirties. To be in government you have to represent everyone...obviously at the moment, voters have decided they have more in common with the Conservatives.
Not sure, Liverpool have both, Newcastle have an off topic thread and then opened up an election results one at around 10 last night. It could of been done quite easily and the thing is no mod has bothered to tell people who have asked (myself and others) a genuine reason for not having one.
Thanks Tom, that is exactly right. The election is the biggest off-topic issue happening on this football forum so Koeman's is the ideal place for it. You can talk about anything else you like in here as well, or post in the many football-related threads if you prefer. After today I dare say the normal business of Koeman's will resume.
Oh come on Fran, have you not seen the headlines in the Murdoch controlled media over the last few days?
Just my view Chilco here. I think the Mods didn't quite get this right. It wouldn't have hurt to have an election thread. It would have kept it all in one place. It is a big and important non football event and the fact politics is a "banned" topic, that gave it even more credence to having a seperate threat. It's too late now, but maybe a consideration for next time. It almost hints of 'not being told what to do' I made a post this morning asking if it is time to now stop; no response. Sorry to disagree Chilco, but Koemans was the least ideal place for it for the very reason that it was the biggest off-topic thread.
It will die down. Still, we can be unhappy, or some very happy, or some content, but this is democracy: the people have spoken and want David Cameron and the Tories.
"There is a strict rule, from the forum owner, across the website that says absolutely no political talk. We're bending the rules like crazy to allow you any at all. Let me look into it, but until then keep chatting on Koeman's Korner. If we can allow it I will reopen your thread." Well that doesn't seem true, so the supermods allowed Newcastle Liverpool etc. to have an election thread but not us? Seems strange...
I have always been told that the forum (whole forum) rule was no politics. Several times our mods have mentioned this. Understandably this event was an extraordinary event so politics was said to be allowed to be discussed. At the very start, I had reservations and felt if it were allowed then have a seperate thread.
Why have we been told that politics couldn't be discussed then? Chilco - thanks for replying to this post. Any chance of a response on the others I have asked a question? Maybe you didn't see them.
Its hardly 2 days every 5 years though is it... news has been wall to wall election coverage for weeks now. Why is it such a big deal for it to not have its own thread when election issues are so important, bit late now but I just don't get it.
