    **ATTENTION**

For those who still don't know that a Solar Eclipse will be taking place tomorrow [Friday] morning at [for Southampton, UK] 8.23am to 10.39am [with 85% coverage at 9.29am], I'm giving you the last heads-up you may well see this evening. Also, if you are not in Southampton, but somewhere within the path of the Sun and Moon tomorrow morning, here's the great Time & Date website to explore to tap the name of your town into, to find out when it is going to happen for you. I've got the link set for Southampton. There's a video of what 85% coverage will actually look like. Aberdeen Saint is likely to get 98% coverage. Hopefully the cloud stays away, but it's still amazing if there is a bit about. I'm lucky enough to have seen the total eclipse in Cornwall in 1999, and believe me, that was bloody interesting/amazing. Expect odd things to happen with the birds and animals, if you live in the sticks:

And don't be a twat and look straight at it, even through sunglasses. The risk isn't worth it.

Thanks TSS. What happens to the creatures? They think it's dusk or just generally start going a bit bonkers. I have fields around me so will be looking for any strange behaviour

If you want to see a total eclipse you'll have to go to the Faroe Islands PDQ.

Indeed. Very good point. Funnily enough, a 100% total eclipse can be viewed with the naked eye. Just for a short while. Make a video, is my suggestion, or look up ways to view it on the Net.

Go outside with a colander. Hold it in your hand and look at the shadows of the holes. Very cool indeed.

I went to Munich to see the total eclipse in 1999. About two minutes before totality a handkerchief sized cloud passed in front of the sun. Two minutes after the end of totality it drifted off. Still, we came back with our daughter on the way so it wasn't an entirely wasted trip (no, she wasn't conceived during the eclipse itself).

We're off the the USA in 2017 to see a total eclipse.

The birds go very quiet, or get confused. Cows lay down, or start mooing a lot, etc... They basically get caught out. It screws them up for a few minutes.
