In 1977, I was on the Oriana (the previous one) as an Engineer Cadet - being a steamship, I spent a lot of my time overhauling valves and other equipment. This involved removing and replacing asbestos lagging - nothing was known about the hazards in those days - I cringe now just thinking about the loose dust released during the work !
