Catalonia has held an illegal referendum on independence, after the Spanish authorities refused to grant one.

Around 80% have voted in favour of independence, with Pep Guardiola one of the high profile figures to vote in favour.

Imagine if Basque and Catalonia went independent, Spain would be a mess.

Saints are apparently battling with European giants Napoli, Schalke and Swansea for the services of Besiktas midfielder Veli Kavlak.

Kavlak 26 joined the Turkish club for £600k from Rapid Vienna in 2011 and although born in Austria and capped for them at International level he is also a Turkish citizen through his parents,

Described as a box to box defensive midfielder with a reputation as a bit of a hatchet man he is out of contract next summer and therefore able to discuss terms with other European clubs from January.

still going to reduce the options for distance focusing to looking straight down the length of the plane.

the thought of all that close visual stimulus makes me feel a bit ill tbh.

edit: good news everybody. 20-30 year time scale means i'll be long sighted or blind by then, and almost certainly asleep.

    Pink Floyd outselling 1D 3 to 1.

It might not be them at their best, but thank goodness...

Does Lovren's flopping at Liverpool mean that Dan's criticism was justified?

I have this peculiar thing about Pink Floyd. Nowadays I much prefer the earlier Syd Barrett led stuff, whereas back in those days I thought Dark Side of the Moon was a masterpiece, and the SB stuff was a bit bunkum. DSotM obviously still is a masterpiece, but I can't listen to it anymore, and haven't been able to for about 15-20 years. Likewise, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and especially The Wall and Final Cut. I can still raise a very happy ear to Meddle and anything earlier. Tbf, I've always liked UmmaGumma but nowadays I adore it to distraction, tracks like The Narrow Way - sublime..!

Tbf, when most people were comparing Fonte to Lovren and considering him a relative donkey [Fonte, that is] I was always saying that although Lovren was good for us, he was paired with a superb CB [Fonte, that is]. I know I wasn't alone in thinking that as well.

It was suggested in The Mirror that Liverpool may have bought the wrong CB. They also put next to Schneiderlin that Arsenal should forget it as he was too good for them :)
