I think you have little chance of getting one I'm afraid. It's more difficult since Trump came to power with his attitude towards immigration and visitors. Most people apply for entry through the Visa Waiver Program but it asks for more details than previously and as RJ says above you'll probably be refused and have to apply for a proper visa which will require making an appointment to go to the US embassy in London. You could try the VWP which you can do on line and it tells you there and then whether you've been successfull or not. Like you say, it's not worth the risk not declaring something as you could find yourself being turned back at immigration.
