well this is an odd one from Hampshire. Woman stops for a man lying in the road. Checks and thinks it's a scarecrow and then runs him over. Gets a year in jail. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-hampshire-45990346
Someone smashed the case housing the Magna Carta at Salisbury Cathedral. No one hurt and document not damaged. Some weird people about.
I got so sick of Trick or Treaters that I turned the lights off and pretended I wasn’t in. Sod the ships. My lighthouse, my rules.......

Is that the gills of the shark being utilized as Scar's very spare ribs? If so that takes the genius to another level.
can't claim credit I'm afraid, my wife said that Scar was a bit scrawny, so I carved some prominent ribs.
Well it's on point. What could be the next incarnation of the beast? I'm beginning to see ...Terry Hurlock??
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-46019429 Interesting (well to me anyway ). Surgeon reports that he has found that young medical students lack hand dexterity skills necessary to become surgeons because of too much use of technology and not enough experience of crafts. Who wants a clumsy surgeon
That's interesting. I would've thought with the rise of hand held devices and playing games using controllers amongst kids/young people hand dexterity would actually have improved.
Maybe they will come into their own when operations become fully robotic, where using joysticks etc will be key.
Yes, but the movements involved are limited. People call it muscle memory, but that is incorrect....it is neural pathways that operate quicker in a familiar task (seemingly, though not actually, without conscious thought) such as when driving a car. Imagine if you have never used a pair of scissors....you would have to concentrate and think about every stage....placement of fingers...which fingers?....which direction to move said fingers...and most importantly of all...the size of finger movements that govern speed and size of the cut. It's the same as writing when we are unused to it....I used to write for hours with no problems, now my fingers ache after a few Christmas cards because the required muscles have lost their strength. It has also been observed that eyesight is deteriorating because people do so much close work....this was observed in mediaeval monks who worked for long periods on manuscripts. It is very important to limit computer use in very young children for this reason. It has been reported that computers develop habits as well and do tasks they are familiar with much faster than new tasks....which is surprising as they use the binary system so all decisions should take the same time. A friend of mine had a backgammon game (and this was way back in the dark ages) and she had to give it up because it threw the required number far more often than random..
