Mrs SR wants to go shopping today at west quay .........just might have to treat myself as well..........YELLOWS, YELLOWS ,YELLOWS
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-45460322 Sando Toksvig reveals that she earns only 40% of what Fry got for doing QI and the same as Alan Davis. The fact that overall women earn less in the media, especially when doing the same job, is an issue, but always difficult when you are talking about one individual versus another. Alan Davis may not be the host, but is a major player in the show....and I suspect that Stephen Fry had his wages upped with time as he became less willing to stay in the job. And he is arguably a bigger star. Individuals negotiate their own wages and there may be many factors to consider...fame, other options, how replaceable you are etc. Sandi does say that she has done very well out of it and loves the job...therein lies the rub...as a newbie keen on the opportunity, she was in a weakened position....she will be in a stronger position in the future. I loved Fry and thought he was a hard act to follow, but love Toksvig now. The show has a different feel, but is equally entertaining with Sandi's dry wit and lighter hand. I realised recently how I preferred it when I was looking for something to watch and was disappointed to find a QI episode was hosted by Fry (and remember I am a fan of his). The King is dead, Long live the Queen.
Lucky beggar. I’ve ordered the lads kit (he’s paying as he’s got a Sunday job now) but too many bills at the moment to justify getting mine.
Got mine.......I am calling it an early Xmas present to myself (plus I am wearing it for the Chelsea game)
Oh no. I keep some shot whisky in a decanter so I can serve that to people who don’t really like whisky or ask for it with a mixer.
Yeah, I think it was me. Sure was an incredible film. I had watched The Revenant a month before it and after watching Spotlight I changed my mind as to which was going to get the Best Film Oscar. And Spotlight got it too. Well deserved.
Off on holibobs tomorrow...river cruise through Germany, France and Switzerland. Will be able to read what you all write (so be very careful ), but may not comment. Bit worried about that as my average number of posts will fall away badly.
That sounds rather pleasant. Could do with that sort of pace right about now myself. But, I'll have to make do with getting the car mot'd in the morning & something else equally as bad in the afternoon! Have fun.
Who was it on here that did one of those DNA tests (not for paternity or maternity lol, we all know @fran-MLs little camera is everyone’s mother ) As you all may or may not know I am ½ Indian and ½ Italian - I would really love to take one of those tests as I am sure I am genuinely 50:50 Indian/Italian according to my family tree I traced back to about 1820s. Be fascinating to see my real blood, and I don’t want to get ripped off - was it @Le Tissier's Laces ?
