All these jokes have reminded me that the joke that won best joke at the Edinburgh fringe festival I am sure I heard about 10 years ago:

"Working at the Jobcentre has to be a tense job - knowing that if you get fired, you still have to come in the next day."

I am 99.9% sure that I heard/read that somewhere a long time ago. Doesn't the joke have to be original to win this prize?

I went to the zoo the other day, it was empty except for a single dog...

    It was a Shih Tzu.

37 deaths in Europe this year (mostly children) 14 in Serbia. Terrorist bomb? No, morons not vaccinating their children against measles. Angry? moi?

Conspiracy theorists can bang on about chemtrails, aliens, flat earth and 9/11 all they want but not about things that kill children

Hey. I've come to beg three kind, brave souls here to join the Not 606 NFL Fantasy League. I'm not even asking you to participate, just sign up and join the league (which'll only take a few moments), then you never need to look at it again. The draft is tomorrow and we're 3 down so we need to make up the answers. I'm not sure what happens if we don't get the required number of players, but I'm guessing it's not a good thing.

Although I'll be annoyed if someone who has no interest in playing and just signed up out of the kindness of their hearts ends up picking (through the auto-picker) Antonio Brown or someone haha.

Or if you know anyone who is into American Football who might be interested, please share the details.

Jamie Oliver has been accused of cultural appropriation by a Labour MP because he has produced a rice dish and called in Jerk Rice....admittedly a vegetarian dish but based on the flavours used. I'm so glad to realise that there can be nothing important or worrying going on at the moment...otherwise I'm sure she'd concentrate on that. As someone else said, she's going to be really upset when she finds out about Jamie's Italy.

There was a Jamaican chef on the radio yesterday who was pretty scathing about Oliver, explaining that Jerk isn’t just about the spices used, it’s how you cook the food, i.e. by barbecuing it. As he asked, whoever heard of barbecuing rice?

Yeah "jerk" is just a term for seasoning meat I always thought. Mainly chicken or pork. Can see why people are getting annoyed with him basically just chucking the word "jerk" in to try and boost sales

I can think of ways of using ‘jerk’ when it comes to Jamie Oliver, that have nothing to do with cultural appropriation.

Being misleading is one thing, but many vegetarian meals are described in a misleading way...trying to suggest they are as tasty as a meal containing meat. <laugh> However, my objection is the idea of cultural appropriation...as if nothing can be shared with another country. People who have valid points to make about racism and prejudice of all sorts should try and avoid things that are plainly ludicrous...because they dilute their message and turn people against them.

Well no, because there is no such thing as jerk rice. I'm sure if he had released "Jamie Oliver's Jerk Chicken" people wouldn't be annoyed. I'm sure lots of people don't care but I can see why someone who is a chef who is Jamaican/specialises in Jamaican food wouldn't be too happy about it.
