Well no. Some people thought we should have kept him though, would have gone down well.

Ok that's enough football chat. He's still beautiful probably.

And to make you even happier, it is a Bank Holiday all over the Mediterranean, in France, in some German States. Meanwhile in the UK, there is nothing from the end of August until Christmas. How the country makes you work like slaves? And to cheer you up even further, there are another two on the 6th and 8th of December. Start campaigning for another Bank Holiday folks!!

When I worked in a lab, bank holidays were days off, but not when I moved to retail. It started off that if you worked a bank holiday you got extra pay and time off, then it became half time off....by the time I left you got single pay and no time off. Bank holidays had mysteriously disappeared as they are now allowed to be included in your annual holiday. Guess what....the annual holiday didn't appear to be any longer because we were already on the legally-required holiday entitlement. So spare a thought for people who have to work bank holidays....no weekends off with families for them. Mind you....that could be a good thing.<laugh>

Yes, in the NHS Bank Holidays have to be worked as normal days for front-line staff. You do get a day off in lieu, at least you did in 2013 when I retired.

Come to think of it it’s exactly 4 years to the day since I retired. Where did that go? <yikes>

Fascinating....just watched a small piece about a nuclear bunker from the Cold War days. There was a phone with a direct line to the Queen as she had to give Royal Assent for the Emergency Powers Act in case of a nuclear threat. Am always interested in stuff like that...let's hope it remains firmly in the past.

    Picking your brains.
About a week ago, I opened the door of my car, and was greeted by a “fishy” smell.
The smell has moved on to something more gross and I am beginning to think something may have crawled into the engine and is now putrefying, with the smell lingering. Is this feasible?
I have just invested in an “odour neutraliser”, to try and mask the smell, but any suggestions would be appreciated.
