If it was really about the Zika virus then surely there would be a similar amount of ladies pulling out. Definitely money and prestige related over anything else.

The Olympics still have a high status. Most people would have respect for an Olympic medallist....always lots of applause when one is introduced. I bet Murray is immensely proud of his medal even though tennis is an infrequent Olympic event.

Absolutely but I think when several top 10 players pull out it makes the victory seem somewhat lesser.

If I won an Olympic medal because a bunch of pansies pulled out, I wouldn't give a toss. A hundred years time, I would still be down as an Olympic medallist.

    Absolutely.

I've been waiting for the first shouts of it being a diminished Olympics because several sports people have pulled out. Total crap, in my opinion. Besides, why on earth golf is there is slightly beyond me.

Absolutely Fran and I'd even invite you to share that meal with me. Unless, it was curried goat because I don't share that.

I've been waiting to enjoy one like that from you :)

By the way, were you thinking about a Little.Chef Olympic Breakfast. Not seen one of those for years, but used to have those when I was a fitter thing in the 90s

How come this thread is back to being called off topic? Please may I nominate Hojbjerg's Hovel, Clasie's Corner and Redmond's Recluse?

Ah yes, saw one of those parked. The Osprey is quite a nice aircraft, but the concept is not exactly new thinking. It actually reminds me of several American tiltrotor prototypes from the 1950's. All the abortive attempts at some form of VTOL before Britain came out with the Flying Bedstead, then a couple of Short Brothers research aircraft, then the P.1127 appeared, which morphed into the Kestrel, and then the Harrier. One of our better eras in aviation.

The Fairey Rotodyne never made a success even though it was very advanced. A modern version may even do well today:

    Cats !

    Don't have one .

Toby Just had his eye ball scraped for the third time in total ( second in 9 days ) he has an ulcer on his eyeball and it's not healing this time .

May end up having to cut the damaged bit of cornea out & replace it ....... and Jasper ( as in my Avatar ) hasn't been seen since Saturday . he has wandered off before but never for this long . Have done the rounds but no joy from the neighbours <wah>

Really sorry to hear that, Don't give up on Jasper one of mine disappeared on a Saturday and didn't reappear until early Thursday morning. Still not sure where he was but we think he was shut in a garage. We had put flyers through doors and had just about given up on him.

We are hoping for the best , but this time it has been cool at night & he has NEVER done that before. In the Heat he wanders off & tucks himself away , always smells of soil . If we have rain in the next night or two & he doesn't appear , that will be a worry .

Chris Froome is smashing this year's Tour de France. Today he and Gereint Thomas joined green jersey Peter Sagan and another Tinckoff Saxo rider in a breakaway on what should have been a bunch sprint stage to put yet more time on the GC contenders.

My old cat used to disappear the day I'd go on holiday, make my neighbours think they've lost him, not eat any food put out for him, and just casually stroll back within an hour or two of me returning. He'd always be fit and well fed so I reckon he'd been on holiday too - all inclusive it seems as I never gave him holiday money.
He did it 3 or 4 times for at least a week, bur never when I was home.
Check greenhouses Jasper, there's nothing a cat likes more than a nice warm tomato growbag to curl up on and sleep. That might explain the soil smell.
