Murray doing outstandingly well, being two sets up in the semi against Wawrinka. You wouldn't think Wawrinka was the current champion, the difference in quality so far. Hope this isn't the kiss of death.
Yay. 3-1 Muzza. First British, male finalist, in this slam, since 1937. Great achievement. Only Djokovic between him and the trophy now.
Greatest sportsman who ever lived, in my opinion. If he wants to live on I hope he gets his wish. One more fight to win.
Are you male and have a large waistline.? Then you are under an increased risk of aggressive prostate cancer. So says a study across 8 countries in Europe covering almost 150,000 men. So it's time for getting that eating and drinking under control and especially.... get off that fat lard of an arse and get active: http://www.news-medical.net/news/20...eased-risk-of-high-grade-prostate-cancer.aspx
All The Way [2016]. An HBO film starring the excellent Bryan Cranston. I must be one of the few who never saw Breaking Bad [I'll get around to it some time], so I only have From the Earth to the Moon [he played Buzz Aldrin], Trumbo and this movie to go on. And he's brilliant. In fact they're all good, but Cranston plays the lead with such quality and conviction that you'd think he really was President Lyndon B. Johnson. Which is where the title comes in. The older amongst us here may know the campaigning slogan, All The Way With LBJ. Johnson was a Texan Vice President, and was shot straight into the limelight by the assassination of John F. Kennedy. He was a sop for the southern states of Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama, Texas, Florida, Mississippi, South Carolina, and the like. But the death of JFK struck LBJ hard. It was as if he'd had an epiphany. This coarse, back slapping, deal making, mover and shaker had a steely honour about him that meant he passed legislature that he knew to be right and not popular. When they were impossible to pass, as they were, he doctored them to be successful, then made amends in following legislation. He was a very successful president who got out from under JFK's shadow by the end of his time. Ill health meant that he didn't seek a second term and the likelihood was that he would have won it. As such, the ending is a little anti-climactic. However, that won't hinder the enjoyment of this very watchable film. LBJ died in 1973 from a heart attack. Cranston manages to get into LBJ's skin and produces a fabulous performance. Get the Emmy's, or whatever gongs they have for TV movies, engraved. Cranston's already got this one sorted. Highly recommended.
Heard that in the news yesterday. My wife's uncle has it and isn't 37" waist if you went round him twice!
Some people are predisposed to these things. It's similar to certain people getting lung cancer who breathed the sweetest air all their lives and never smoked. Of the average people around, if you are rather overweight, you are at increased risk. If it keeps you company FLT, I gained a stone last winter and have yet to shift it, so I'm at increased risk. More bicycling, walking and less sitting down and eating. I'm sitting down at the moment too. In a comfy chair, not a hard one.
Ever heard of the expression that life catches up with you eventually.? It's not life that catches up with you.
Watched the last bit of Episode One of An Immigrant's Guide to Britain. I agree with DTLW. It's hilarious. The biggest laugh was seeing sheer bloody ignorance of the interviewed British people. My [face] cheek muscles were aching at the end.
They [immigrants] come over here. They get a house, and £26,000. In that case I'm going away and coming back to get my house and £26K. Oh no, that's just taking a holiday, isn't it.
He's gone. The greatest ever sportsman, in my opinion, and most certainly the best ever boxer, Muhammed Ali has died aged 74. Asked how he would like to be remembered, he once said: "As a man who never sold out his people. But if that's too much, then just a good boxer. I won't even mind if you don't mention how pretty I was." He had his fair share of faults, but he was a man of honour. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-16011175
