As a club we are always so quick to lambast signings. Give him a few weeks and a run of games with the back 4. He's played 2 games.
Can't argue that. I just think it was always going to be tough for a GK to come in so close to the season and be expected to hit the ground running. Shot stopping seems decent but he has struggled on crosses from set pieces. That will hopefully change when he and the defenders have more of an understanding for when he's required to come for it or not.
I don't want to sound like SR, but let's see what Amos does tomorrow. Keeper is the tip of the iceberg at the moment. Dillon Phillips might be playing centre forward next week.
To sound like SR lets see where we are with him after 15 games I like Philips and think it's a bit harsh he hasn't been given a go. But we have two capable GK's now - that's not a bad thing.
Should have done more to keep Rudd; he saved us on numerous occasions last year. Brilliant keeper, better than Amos by a country mile.
It would appear that the club do not see Phillips as 1st choice material, this has been the case with two managers now. I would be very surprised that he makes it with us so perhaps for the benefit of his career we contact Cheltenham as he is very well thought of there and was a success.
Amos had his best game to date. Very solid one superb save and a couple of very good ones. Only one cross to deal with I think, and he took it well. A big plus.
