This isn't the answer, but there's a great story about Ferrari challenging the legality of a Red Bull front wing, arguing a feature of it posed a puncture risk. When the stewards went to inspect said front wing, Charlie Whiting mischievously stepped on it, and broke the offending feature clean off. Whiting then winked at Newey, declared that if it was that flimsy it'd never damage a tyre, and the case was dismissed.
