Agree. Nothing pisses me off more than Martin Brundle going on his little trip about the fact runoffs mean more cars finish. That isn't better for the show. It isn't drama watching a replay of someone running wide on tarmac then rejoining the race. Drama is switching from one piece of action to see a car beached in the gravel.
As a negative aside, is there such a thing as unsafe release these days? I suppose it'll take a mechanic getting run into before they remember that's a thing.
Ive been out for lunch so caught bits of the race- I still can’t quite work out how Stroll and Kyvyat ended up P2 & P3 after the final safety car and pit stops? Did they pit for slicks much earlier than the leaders or something? Renault must feel sick today- what an opportunity to pick up midfield points. Sainz did his job for McLaren to be fair.
Race-start data of both Alfa Romeos, which finished seventh and eighth, "found not being in compliance with Article 27.1 of the sporting regulations" (The driver must drive the car alone and unaided). Referred to the stewards.
They should get rid of run off areas full stop but unfortunately most of today's drivers would struggle then including a certain 5 time champion
IMHO the reason they have these stupid run off areas is that more cars finish and the sponsors get more exposure . Just my opinion , but sadly it's all about the
Some more quotes from Mercedes top man Toto Wolff. When asked about what happened to Valtteri Bottas, he shrugs his shoulders in the way that some managers might do when things have quickly billowed out of control beyond what anyone could have predicted. He continues: "Many others made the mistake and crashed, and overall it was a bad day and it cannot get much worse. "It shows that you shouldn’t fool around with stuff - you should concentrate on the job, we are not superstitious, but we should focus on the job at hand."
All circuits ? Honest question . Anyway , how good can they be , the F1 drivers have twice as many tyres to deal with …….
Most circuits, definitely. That's the problem, they aren't very good at dealing with their 2 tyres, so they come off a lot. They bounce more easily and predictably on tarmac, rather than getting ragdolled by gravel.
