Got to be happy with that. Assuming Arsenal beat Oxford, one of the big guns have to go out again. Brighton v Wolves/Liverpool will see a good side go out as well.
So a guaranteed 6 non-PL sides will be in the last 16. And probably it'll be more, maybe like 7 or 8. That's a decent ratio, should we get past Blackpool.
Why did play go on for so long there? VAR should have stopped the game way before it went out of play. Clear pen.
I'd don't think it'll happen, but it's not totally out of the question that Potter could manage three PL clubs in the same season. I think the new Chelsea owner will try and give Potter as much time as possible. But if their poor season continues, they might eventually decide to do a U-turn on him. And if they were to, Potter wouldn't be short of admirers elsewhere in the PL (whether this season or next).
Hmm Palace and now Blackpool at home in the 4th round, is anyone else getting 1976 vibes?... https://www.11v11.com/matches/southampton-v-blackpool-24-january-1976-213974/
It's written in Saints folklore like England's WC win is for England fans, all Saints fans should know this... 47 years of hurt never stopped me dreaming...
That's about the only good thing about getting old that I can think of. Watching England win the World Cup live on TV and being at Wembley when Saints won the cup. Mind you I had to pay £2.50 for a ticket, the crooks.
