I'm going to keep stumping for us to sign Ismael Kone in the summer just in case someone at Saints does their scouting on this board.
I don't think they do as I was going on about Almiron & his strike partner Josef Martinez at Atlanta Utd for ages before Newcastle bought him. True it is has taken a couple of years to flourish, but maybe the Saints magic dust would have worked sooner. FWIW I think Martinez is still available.
Mentioned on Any Questions on Radio 4 this evening, which was hosted by Bath City. All the best Alex.
From the Guardian fiver letters. Spot on. “Re: the Cristiano Ronaldo interview given to Piers Morgan (yesterday’s Fiver). Yes, it was a great chance for ‘a narcissistic, self-serving egomaniac’ (to use Barney Ronay’s description) to make it all about himself and he took it with both hands, but I think Ronaldo is not entirely faultless either” – Admir Pajic.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63650914 Initial list of 14 grounds submitted for 2028 Euros bid. None from South of London unsurprisingly. Can't see Dublin retaining 2 grounds if Scotland only have one. Be interesting to see the Casement Park redevelopment should it be successful though I'm kind of hoping it goes to Turkey. Edit: no millennium stadium?!
Seems a little needless to have named 14 grounds (to be cut down to 10), given that they include two in Manchester and three in London. For a UK competition, there's no chance that 50% of the final 10 will come from those two cities alone. There's also no chance that Old Trafford or Wembley will miss out. So why bother to name the Etihad? I suppose the London Stadium might beat the Tottenham Stadium, but I would doubt it.
I disagree with Old Trafford not missing out - it may be a great stadium, but it is quite tired now. Though by 2028 it may be ok.
OS has announced the date of Saints v Lincoln in the Carabao Cup: It's on Wednesday 21st December, with tickets starting at £12.50 for STH. As we'll have been without a Saints match for several weeks, this may draw a large (ish) crowd. Or it may be too close to Christmas, or too soon after our World Cup victory (OK, probably not)
