In fairness it was a little far out, and JWP had just been clattered by Phillips at that point and was hobbling a bit. That was a very dull game in the end though. We were playing like a team after a draw...
F*ck me! The assist and goal from Obafemi last night. Love that kid, if he stays injury-free, he is going to have a great career.
Just been looking at the Sunday Times players ratings Che Adams 5/10 Obafemi 9/10 OK it's one game but it's thought provoking
That's very true - it's one game. And Oba, as we well know, is prone to an injury or two. I wouldn't be comparing him to Che though, more comparative would be Adam Armstrong. We may have made an error there, who knows. But Oba also only scored 12 in the Championship to Armstrongs 3,798, or whatever it was.
Obafemi was getting over his latest injury issue for most of the first half of the season though, so didn't really get going for a while. Next season if injury free, could hit 20+ goals. Still so bloody young. One year younger than Che and Armstrong when they both started scoring prolifically. Hurts that we couldn't have given him an extra year or so, but were willing to give Walcott 60k a week.
The Australian keeper in this penalty shootout against Peru is...well...different. Came on in the 120th minute as a penalty specialist. More kind of 'bellend specialist' in my view, but there we are.
Well, let's review: - All keepers are, by rule, crazy. - All Australians are, by rule, crazy. - It thus stands to reason that Australian keepers are all on work release from some sort of asylum for the criminally deranged*. *One could argue that 'asylum for the criminally deranged' is just a wordy way of saying 'Australia', anyway. One would be correct.
I was one of the biggest believers in Obafemi, but I think that he needed that move. There were a lot of suggestions when he was here that his professionalism was lacking, and there were a fair few suggestions to the same effect in his first few months with Swansea. I still think he has a good chance to be a solid PL striker (he does a lot of things instinctively well for a player his age), but he likely needed a set back to go forward.
Banner World Cup for primarily English-speaking nations, with England, Australia, Canada and the US competing. And also Wales.
