It was incredible that when they bid for the WC Lusail was just a concept. Literally planning to hold the final in a city that doesn’t even exist yet, 10 years on and it looks like a magnificent stadium….. surrounded by a barren empty shell of a ‘city’. I get an intense Fyre Festival feeling about this World Cup, I mean the stadiums are all built and to be fair look pretty good, thanks to relentless slave labour. But can Qatar really handle the logistics of 31 other nations worth of fans descending upon it and travelling around to 4 games a day? Does it have the bed capacity for that many people to stay? Does it have the public transport capacity to handle that amount of daily movement? How will they handle the sadly inevitable trouble makers especially when rival fans are going to be meeting constantly throughout Doha moving to games, I feel like the embassies could be busy. I know they have almost infinite money but it still feels like a push to me.
Yeah it feels a tad ambitious to me too. Especially the bed situation you allude too; they were aiming for 120/130k beds if I remember rightly which will include desert camps. I imagine lots of fans will base themselves outside of Qatar and fly in and out on game days. Will be interesting to see how well attended the matches are.
Although smaller, I'd prefer the Tottenham Hotspur, Emirates and even the London Stadium, our Olympic showpiece, to Wembley
I have not worked there for around 3 years now. Lusail is still a wasteland and the transportation infrastructure has improved with the new metro system. Are they ready, the big issue is accommodation and it's my understanding that cruise ships were being brought in to house the fans and to segregate them from the locals. The cultural clash is significant; a poll was taken some 5 years ago, of the Qatari populous and 85% did not want the WC. Drinking is very controlled in Qatar and dress code is enforced. Frankly, if l were going, l would base myself in Dubai and only visit for the matches l was attending and get out afterwards.

Cracking game on BT Sports 2 - Napoli v Inter (2nd v 1st). Napoli 1-0 HT, so it is 1st v 2nd at the moment. Inter had a 25 min period where they were all over the place.
1-1 now in the first min of second half. I jinxed my 'home' town EDIT Maybe I should place a bet on Inter to win
Went on SFC immediately I read the post but couldn’t find anywhere. Strange? Cheers anyway. Ps. So we’ve lost the Northam again. 5,000 Whammers givin it very large

Oh I really hope it works out for him, fond memories of his setting up THAT goal for Shane at Anfield!
Fingers crossed Josh. He joins Jake Vokins and Kayne Ramsay - Ross County are my second Scottish team now.!
