The fact that it's up for debate means that VAR worked as it should. It can hardly be a clear and obvious error if some (rightly or wrongly) believe the referee was correct. The VAR is not there to re-referee the game. And all the better; the cricket review system works much better now that the third umpire doesn't re-umpire the game.
VAR will sort out obvious blatant stuff (like the handball by Watford), but there will be occasions when it solves nothing because it comes down to opinion....and all that VAR does in those cases is introduce another opinion. Have to accept that.
I watched a league match in Germany where bottom played 3rd place away, and I stuck a bet on the under dog. The had a blatant penalty call in the 93rd minute, and the ref wouldn't even review it. Bizarre. I'm expecting loads of controversy to follow the system. Even diving will change, seriously.
