If we get City so be it. We shouldn't be scared of them we've given them a game every time under Ralph.
Given that City won, the perfect outcome for me tomorrow would be wins for Man Utd and Sheff Utd. But given that's unlikely, I'm instead hoping it'll be wins for Leicester and Chelsea. Ultimately, whilst wins for Leicester and Sheff Utd would increase our chances of winning in the SF, I would suggest it would decrease our chances of winning the final. Someone needs to take out City - and whilst sure, that could be us, I think I'd rather take my chances with Chelsea or Utd maybe doing that. Even though it decreases our chances of getting a favourable SF draw.
Here's how it will go. Chelsea think they have a bye and lose to Sheff Utd. Man U beat Leicester. We draw Sheff Utd Man U beat City We beat Sheff Utd We beat Man U in the final with Pompey boy JWP scoring in the 83rd minute.
Think we're in agreement on the broad strokes, though I'm actually less sure that Chelsea is a harder matchup for City than Leicester. Leicester's given Man City a fairly tough time in recent years...they've won two of their past five meetings and actually outscored City. The one thing that Pep's teams traditionally struggle with are teams that counter hard and fast, and Leicester fits the bill.
Only issue is JWP probably knows how to drive. Perhaps he’ll be given a helicopter or something instead,
Not the strongest Chelsea XI ever seen. But you'd still think it will be far too strong for Sheff Utd.
Thomas Tuchel really needs to just buzz the hair, because he looks far too much like he should be cast as a cannibalistic university prof in a detective show.
I wouldn’t mind playing Chelsea if they played like this in the semi. If 3 Sheffield players hadn’t all gone for the same ball, from the corner, one of them might have been in a good enough position to stop Chilwell’s shot as soon as it left his boot.
McGoldrick had to score there. Terrible defending. I wouldn’t mind this Chelsea in the semi, we’ve done OK against them this season.
