Don’t think I’ve ever seen it during my time. That being said most of the refs I’ve had own parents probably think they’re dicks as well

Interestingly enough I had to show a manager what a rule said after a match a couple of weeks ago. I gave a backpass against his team. The pass came from about 30 yards out. I gave the free kick from where the keeper picked it up (which is correct). The manager and his players said the kick should have been where the pass came from. What a load of crap! The only time the kick isn't taken from where the keeper picked it up is when it's inside the 6 yard box. The manager kept arguing the toss and in the end I red carded him. The look on his face when he realised he was wrong was priceless!

Peter Kirkup (Premier League assistant) used to referee friendlies and always ran the line for his son’s team. They were our local rivals at the age group I coached. I always gave Peter stick in an obvious banter way (I wouldn’t question or shout at referees at kids football as it is just so wrong).

Anyway, One day we played that team in a league game and he had to correct me on a the back pass rule. Their player played the ball back to the keeper with his knee. I thought that was an illegal back pass and although I didn’t question the young referee I did ask Peter why he didn’t give us a free kick. I did have a bit of a polite discussion and questioned him on that rule... there I was on a Sunday morning questioning a Premier League ref about the rules.. who’d have thought :emoticon-0131-angel

Got my own back a couple of months later. We played them in a friendly at the end of the season and he was referee. We should have been playing 40 minutes each way for the age group. He played 45 in the first half and we scored the winner in the second minute of injury time (47th minute) even though their manager was telling him it was only 40 for that age group. He just looked at me afterwards, saying “Don’t you say a word!” :emoticon-0140-rofl:

If City don’t see this game out, they will only have themselves to blame for trying to walk the ball into the net .
Watching Mahrez trying to slalom through the Sheffield United defence, just now had me saying “Who does he think he is? Djenepo?”.

From handling a back pass and punching a striker last week, to a clean sheet and assisting the winner this week.

    Stoke. Windy. Etc.

To be fair, several refs I've watched didn't have married parents. At least, not married to each other.

Ryan Giggs not taking part in the international camp for Wales after being charged with assault. Not sacked, just standing down temporarily

Great article by Carl Anka in The Athletic about the journey of VVD. Words from Jose Fonte and Claude etc.

Pete Hojbjerg comes on for Spuds at half time and assists immediately for their first goal. I can only presume he got to the byline and cut it back!

What a great footballer. Always admired him, but I remember watching him get kicked all over the park because he was so skilful, then reading that his ankle bones had fused due to the damage and seeing him hobbling. Tragic

What a contrast ´Gers and Celtic are producing in the Europa League! Despite conceding a two goal lead, I think their performances have been good in this competition last season and this. 7 from 3 isn´t bad. Contrast that with Celtic, who must have amassed more than 50 consecutive years of European experience to be hammering by Sparta Prague, a good but not outstanding team. If I were a Celtic fan I would be tearing my hair out at the appalling investment for several years now. What they buy seems to be no better than the previous player, if at all. Added to that some of their managerial appointments such as Lennon leave a lot of questions to be asked that need answering. Utimately, this leads to the man in overall responsibility for shaping the direction the club is taking. It is going nowhere so time for all you Buoys who make take a peek at this board to put pressure on Bankier to do something.
