Honestly, if a player stutters and misses a penalty, they should be fined at least a week's wages. The success rate from a stupid stutter penalty must be so much lower than a normal penalty. Take note Cameron McGeehan, you numpty.
The only Portsmouth player to miss a penalty against Oxford. The only Portsmouth player to take a stuttered penalty too.
So no replays in the FA Cup. To be expected really in a truncated season, but do you think replays will be back after next season as there has been pressure from the clubs in Europe to do away with them.
It’s all about the big clubs once again. FA Cup replays are part of the lifeblood of lower and non-league football clubs.
Could they do what I believe happens in Spain (and maybe elsewhere), by allowing the lower ranking team to have home advantage?
It’s not just about being at home though, if a non-league club gets a game or a replay at Old Trafford or whatever they get 47.5% of the gate, plus an equal share of TV money, and any prize money for winning. As an example, Havant & Waterlooville FC, in the National League in 2007-08, got to the fourth round and played Liverpool at Anfield. They made over £600,000 from their cup run, most of it from that one game, which equated to around 70% of their total revenue that season.
Well they are all good points, and maybe they will be re-introduced after this season. I support it this one, due to current circumstances, not sure about after next season. Perhaps there is more opportunity for the ties to be played to a wider TV audience, to bridge the gap. That way more games on TV.
