Imagine the farce if they do restart. And then a player catches CV again.

Now imagine the even more farcical situation where e.g a low profile Norwich player gets it and they have to play the game anyway. Then a high profile Liverpool player gets it and game gets called off....

As for fans’ money, I am 100% confident in Saints doing something for the fans who had Norwich tickets or STHs

Remember last season the Stoke game in the snow, those who CHOSE not to go got that ticket price taken off next season ticket

It’s just that the TV people already have all the games played so far this season on Ultra HD, and will be able to run highlights shows of “the season that never was” until doomsday, so it’s not as though they are losing out really. I suppose they might lose subscribers but most will come back next season, or whenever, anyway.

As I say, considering the blow to the economies of most of the world that’s already been suffered for the sake of preserving life, how can the English ****ing Premier League be considered a priority in anyone’s eyes?

I've been at that point for a little while now. Cancel the season, and commence next season whenever it is safe to do so.

I believe that would require 14 of the 20 PL clubs to agree? Burnley to Norwich amounts to 11 sides, and getting them all on-side I imagine would be possible. Likewise, Man City. So that leaves two others needing to agree.

But, but, it's Liverpool! A team we all hold dear to our hearts.
I know, let's give them this league title, and the next two or three, just in case. If we can arrange a bucket collection at every ground in the entire football pyramid, that should raise enough money to send all Liverpool players on a well-deserved rest, and set up a life-sized gold statue of Klopp in the centre circle at Anfield

It is interesting to the French PM's comment about sport needing to start from the "bottom up" when discussing the abandonment of the football season over the Channel. That might save Claude Puel's bacon at St Etienne where the club are currently in a relegation play-off place. It is disappointing that there will be no trip to France this summer, not least because one of the people I see at the gigs I go to supports this team and I had been curious to see what his opinion was.

I think that a "button up" approach to restarting the season would be quite good. In my opinion the whole point of football is that it is a live form of entertainment and to play the game behind closed doors seems to be to defeat the object of it. I feel that the professional season needs to be abandoned and things left as they were at the end of the 18/19 season. The issue regarding European places is likely to be irrelevant anyway as I cannot see these competitions taking place. What I think would be good would be the green light to be given to smaller, non-league football and resources made so that the facilities for the smaller number of supporters are made safe. Obviously, the risks with non-league football should be far less than with stadia packed with 30,000 people and I think having the game start at this level would give ono-league football a boost. There would be something about this attitude which appeals to my more Corinthian values and it would get some much needed revenue in to the game because I think it might actually attract new fans who need a football fix on Saturday afternoons. Unfortunately, one media source that I read last week was suggestive that the non-league programme was likely to be shelved for 20/21 because of a perceived lack of resources to permit adequate protection of players and supporters. If the FA cold offer financial assistance, I think that this might actually be a feasible alternative come August as opposed to a summer conclusion of a season most people have already forgotten about.

I like the concept of starting with the lower leagues. On my last trip to the UK in early December I went to see my friends, whom I have known for 46 years, in Liverpool. On the Saturday I got the urge to see a match, so took the short trip over the Mersey to see Tranmere v Accrington Stanley. I loved it and have developed a soft spot for both.

I have been of the opinión that the curtain needs bringing down for 2019-20, and I think you underestimate the fairness of LFC fans. They would be disappointed but would accept the situatión as would all football fans the length and breadth of the country.

This would enable clubs to prepare for the new season, and what better way than to start with the Cup Final that is already outstanding with Salford City playing Portsmouth.

As for European club football for next season, I have been preaching for weeks that it should be given a miss. If they need to conclude this season's do it during next season, albeit clubs may well have lost players currently with them, and recruited new ones. You feel Red Bull Leipzig could well be the losers here.

£19m?, that would pay the salaries of the non playing staff quite comfortably. Yes I know it's the prospective buyers not the current ones but lets not let facts get in the way of a good whinge.<ok>
