One of the top jobs in the Bundesliga, it appears. That's a pretty high bar. Certainly higher than Molde in Norway. And come that, what had Poch done?
But what we were saying is that he hasn't done enough to warrant interest from the big boys yet. The fact that he has previously managed a good side in Germany, but not one of the big clubs in Germany (though that is down to opinion, but for me the top clubs in Germany are Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund), doesn't have a bearing on if the likes of Man Utd/Liverpool/Man City would come in for him. I don't think he's done enough for that yet. You think he has? Based on the fact that he previously managed RB Leipzig? Ole gunnar solskjaers managerial record is hardly the norm for managers of the top clubs. He got in at Man Utd on a temporary basis first because of his status as an ex player at Man Utd, not because of his managerial prowess. And then got the full time job because the Man Utd board made a hasty decision based on a run of good form.
I'm not absolutely disagreeing with you, but I'm suggesting that a club like Spurs will certainly not overlook a manager like Ralph. And it's fine to look anyway, as long as they don't take.
Ralph hasn't achieved anything in the premier league as yet, he's only been here 6 months. I'm not saying spurs wouldn't be interested in him I just think at this exact point in time there will be 3 or 4 ahead of him in the queue. To link him to jobs with the top 4 at this early stage of his premier league career is looking at him through saints tinted glasses.
I agree that Tottenham are probably the most likely to show an interest, but that was what my clearly terrible joke was about in the first place! They might be interested because they are not one of the big boys. Don't worry, I won't give up the day job!
I think it throws into the light what a huge and silly risk ManU took with Solkjaer. This is what happens when you employ a crowd favourite instead of a leading manager. ManU have tons of money that they can call upon, yet have reduced themselves, through pretty obvious errors, into a Top 6 side, rather than a Top 2.
I was one of the ones on here that found it hysterical that Utd had gone for OGS. It was never ever going to work out. I do remember people on here defending the decision at the time which i found really bizarre.
Man Utd have gone down the expensive, experienced manager route too and that hasn't worked out either. Their problems are deeper than just the football manager!
That is true. I think Poch would be a good fit for them but he would still need 2-3 seasons to get them anywhere near Liverpool and City.
Its the same with Lampard at Chelsea. If it wasn't for there transfer ban I think he would struggle, but obviously this season is a bit of a free hit for him. I think he will be a decent manager in the future but to be at Chelsea already seems a little odd.
Poch would do well there but only if he was allowed a complete rebuild. Not just a lot of money but they need to get rid of so much dross like Smalling, Jones, Lingard, Mata and the rest.
Based on the fact he got them to the CL and second in that league.... yes, possibly. You don’t have to manage a big club to get a big club job. They all start somewhere else.
He undoubtedly has the potential, but I don’t think he’s there yet. I see his position currently being similar to when we buy players like Van Dijk, Mane, Wanyama. The big clubs are aware and tracking their progress, but waiting for them to show they can do it in the PL too. I think if we have a strong season (considering our squad) he will be on the short list for some top jobs. But IMO he still has some learning and growing to do first.
