Which is why I worry about how they will use VAR. I’m all for improving the odds of having correct decisions, but put a 10-20 second time limit on it. Any longer, then by definition, it isn’t “clear and obvious.”

Why can’t football governing bodies see this simple point? Too many smart arses trying to complicate something.

I've always said something similar and my point last night wasn't about var in general, but more point out an example where big clubs could still get bias towards them for decisions as there's still too many grey areas and decisions down to interpretation.

OK SmartOne!! I was probably too busy celebrating Pompey's great win and almost near confirmation of playing in the League 1 play-offs, something that I hope the players and fans will enjoy because I feel the PFC fans know there are three teams that are better.

 

Can someone please remind me, what are the current rules if an English team who finishes outside the top 4 wins the Champions League?

Do they take 4th's spot in the CL, or do we get 5 in next season's?
What if this scenario happens?:

PL: Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham

CL winners: Man Utd
EL winners: Chelsea

Who ends up where?

 

Spurs (ie 4th place) would miss out on CL. All other five get CL football. And there would be no extra EL place - we would be down to just Spurs and either the FA Cup winner (if City don't win) or 7th place (if City do win).

 

In your scenario, Man Utd and Chelsea play Champions League and Spurs would drop out.

Simply put, one country can have 5 teams in the Champions league, but not 6.

I apologise about "smartarse" but am happy to celebrate the success of all the Solent teams.

 

If 5 teams qualify for the CL from the Top 6, then the lowest placed team go into the EL from that group. Add to that the 7th and 8th placed teams! 8th would have to qualiify.. There is every possibility that Watford and Wolves will finish in those positions regardless of the FA Cup.
