Will be watching this with interest tonight 19:55 k/o on BBC2...good luck Tim!... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46199516
Wonder what the chances are of getting a ticket for it, actually quite tempted to go over for the game
Watched Solihull's disallowed goal last night and it was clearly offside. No one on the posts so there was only the goalkeeper behind the corner taker when the ball was touched back to him. As for the nonsense by the co-commentator saying the ball has to go forwards what utter horseshit. Yes, 99 times out of 100 the ball will go forwards when it's offside but there's nothing in the offside law to say the ball has to go forwards.
Was a shame it never counted though, Tim has them playing some nice stuff for a non-league team and they deserved the win.
Correct decision in the letter of the law, I think the confusion comes from the often said "you can't be offside from a corner because the ball doesn't go forward", the law doesn't mention direction, it mentions the position of a player in relation to the opposition players, this player was in an offside position when his team mate set up the pass, unusual but a correct call.
Can you be offside then, if a ball is played backwards, as in a “pull back” ?? Player stood in offside position, but ball is played backwards (behind him) and he runs back to get it. @tomw24
Thanks. I never knew that. ( feck me @billyvegas Michael caine is back again) I’d like to apologise to the other team down at the rec in 1977. It would appear that little johnny’s Winner was in fact, offside. If any of you are reading this, it is too late to hand back the Jubilee Mug we used as a trophy. That was smashed in a house move in 1986. Sorry.
