I have my issues with VAR but that is just a straight up moron of a ref, VAR suggested he overturn his completely **** on field decision and he has ignored it. What I would do is take the power out of the refs hands and let VAR just overturn, it is manned by officials after all and it would speed things up considerably, especially in this instance where the VAR official is 100% right and the ref on the pitch has lost the plot.
They’re afraid of reducing further the “integrity” of the on field official. As if, allowing the ref to review gives him any additional authority ….. maybe that’s what this ref was doing. Saying **** you, I’m boss, so piss off
