The Imps are the saviours of football (from the grabbing hands, grabbing all they can.) Despite the officials incorrectly ruling out the first pen when all facebook posts seem to show it was over................and the "homegrown" academy players all poached from other clubs (and countries) are beaten with our last penalty scored by Lee Frecklington. Born in Lincoln, came through the Lincoln academy into the Lincoln team before progressing up the ladder. Returns to his home club to see out his career and puts away the winning penalty with his only touch of the game to send his hometown club to their first ever Wembley appearance. Stick that in yer pipe Sky and Chelski. Homegrown development my arse. All those "Chelsea youngsters" have been poached from other clubs and countries. WOW WOW WOW WOW Sweepstake on how many Lincoln fans go to Wembley. I think it will surprise many (including those like me who still can't believe we are selling out every week and taking thousands to away games. lol.) I'll go for 33,000. Not kidding!!!
Fantastic stuff Imps, and well done on reaching Wembley! I hope you all have a great day, although I’m afraid I’ll be rooting for my local Somerset team in the final!
Worth noting the Northern Half are a bit ahead of the Southern Half. Yeovil v Shrewsbury is still to be played as the smi final (or Southern Final), for the right to play Lincoln at Wembley So pleased Chelsea U21s aren't in the final - that'd be the end of the competition I'd have thought if it had happened
Lincoln board have said they will listen to the fans. They didn't get to vote on this format because they were non league when it was voted on. It is pretty certain that they will be voting against the U21 bit when it is voted on again.
http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/42968778 Well done to the Chelsea fan who reported to the stewards anti-Semetic chanting from some of the boneheads who drag the name of a fine club into the gutter. It would be great if more of his fellow fans stood up to the bullies. Good luck Chelsea FC in eliminating this stain on your club.
Pleased for the whole of Lincolnshire. Enjoy you special day out at Wembley. It will surely encourage youngsters to support the local team in that area as opposed to the big fish in that part of the world like Nottingham Forest.
I was surprised Chelsea U21s even made it that far tbh. I suppose it probably had a lot to do with clubs maybe not taking it too seriously earlier on in the competition and playing weakened teams against them. Well done Lincoln though, should be a great day for their fans.
https://uk.yahoo.com/sports/news/manchester-united-midfielder-jesse-lingard-074200615.html Lingard accused of tweeting during the minutes silence at the Munich memorial. He says a member of his team replied and not him. Whether true or not, who are these people who constantly look for offence...I shall call them the Rapid Offence Squad. This was a memorial and a sad occasion, but constant witch hunting is really getting my goat.
??? Lincoln kids don't support Forest. 40-60 year old men support Forest. Lincoln kids (pre Lincoln love in) support Premier League glory teams. Forest were that 40 years ago and thus there are a lot of 40-60 year olds that support Forest in this neck of the woods. One moment in time though on April 8th will be a record for the most fingers ever at Wembley seeing as we (I'll wear falsies) have 20% more.
I was fishing for that reply and suspected that Forest's support would have declined along with the club's performances on the pitch. I would imagine outside the West Yorkshire area, Leeds United's nationwide support also belongs to a similar group. Aside from Lincoln City, are there many Manchester City supporters in the younger generation there? (The youngsters there will grow supporting Lincoln City and a side from the PL but which one?)
http://www.thefa.com/news/2018/02/07/14/48/england-2018-collection-kits-revealed-by-nike-070218 England's World Cup kit revealed. Nice and plain.
There are a lot of Leed fans in Lincoln. younger than Forest fans as well as older. None young though, just younger. 35 I would guess is a Leeds fan probably from when they won the league. There is a smattering of young Man City support and a smattering of older Man City fans with not a lot in the middle. Its kids and 40-60 year olds. I only know 1 Blackburn fan who is in his late 30s (surprise, surprise.) 1 Leicester fan in his 40s (he was born in Leicester) and 2 Everton fans both in their 40s. lol There has always been a large Man U and Liverpool following of all ages. Quite a few Arsenal fans but mostly under 40. Tottenham fans of all ages (even kids) despite them never winning much. Less than Arsenal though. There are nearly as many young Chelsea fans as there are Arsenal but strangely there are more older Chelsea fans than young. I say strangely because a lot of them are only just older than me (mid forties to 60s) born when Chelsea were some club from the second tier that couldn't even fill their ground. Born way after Chelsea won the league in the 50s. If I had to hazard a guess why it would be that they grew up in the casuals era and so being a Chelsea fan meant something different. There are more Celtic shirts in Lincoln than any top flight side other than Man U and Liverpool. Always have been a lot of Celtic shirts. All age groups. Catholic / Irish connection I suppose play a large part. In answer to your question which side are newcomers to football (young kids) supporting other than Lincoln it is still a tie between Liverpool and Man Utd. Probably because the Dads of that era are mostly Liverpool and Man Utd. There are however a lot of Real Madrid and Barcelona shirts about with Messi/Ronaldo on the back. Very strange because when I was a kid no-one wore "foreign" shirts. Not because they/we were racist or xenophobic or anything like that but their/our heroes were players in the English 1st division. You bought the club shirt back then not a shirt with a name on the back whereas now it has become much more player specific. If you really splurged you got a number on the back but of course when I was a kid there were no names on the backs in the 1st division. Italia90 was the watershed I think where suddenly it was fashionable to wear Italy/Juventus/Inter shirts. Then Beckham going to Real expanded upon that.
I still wear the reversible one from 2003. I like the side with the light blue stripes across it and the blue collar. I have it in Large Boys size because I like fitted and back then sizes were still baggy so the adult sizes were bigger than they are now in relative terms. Mens small was like a medium today because shirts are more tailored/fitted these days. I have only ever had 3 England shirts. The one with the red and blue bars across the shoulders (Keegan era), The Euro 96 one and then the one below that I still wear on occasion: please log in to view this image
