England 3-0 at HT. 4th disallowed just before HT after a lengthy VAR review. It would have been a hattrick too.

Yeah you're right. Don't know why I had it in my head that it would have been hattrick.

VAR going against England again. 3-1 now.

That’s 2 goals and 3 assists for her!

    Missed that
Rachel Daly’s not disallowed goal wasn’t bad either. Love that she’s a LB/CF. We could use one of those

Hate VAR, when can I celebrate?
Feels like you’re celebrating VAR decisions rather than goals

England struggled to score in first 2 games but won both 1-0 (are you listening Saints) so good to have a goal fest in last game. Nigeria will be a lot tougher though.

I have watched some of the women's football and have to say that England is leagues above most of the competition in ability. There is a massive gulf between the best and weakest teams in this competition - maybe more exaggerated than in the men's game ????

That's probably true, but there's some big gulfs in the men's game to that have been narrowing tournament to tournament. As the women's game grows the elite nations will emerge and change with time. What goes up must come down. Wrexham for the Champions league in the next 10/15 years worth a bet?

Some of the teams in this WC are semi-pro, the English Women’s Team by contrast is entirely professional and have access to the same World Class facilities as the Men.

So the gulf is much wider, I’m actually quite surprised how close some results have been if anything.

This makes Zambia's Copper Queens achievements all the more remarkable.
    https://en.as.com/soccer/despite-za...th-first-win-and-fastest-goal-in-world-cup-n/
"According to sources, the majority of the Zambia squad participating in their country’s first appearance at the Women’s World Cup have not received any payment from their football federation since competing in the Tokyo Olympics nearly two years ago. These unpaid dues include earnings for matches and up to 100 days of training since returning from the Olympics in August 2021, which includes around 40 days during the Afcon in Morocco."

I've never seen a shootout end like that before!
