What has the city of Nottingham done to deserve that?

The club and manager are quite suited if you ask me. They have been embarrassing since the whole Arab fakeover thing signing Erikson and Sol Campbell and they are still in trouble now. Dodgy chairman that wanted to take over Lincoln but wasn't "allowed" to and then took Lincoln Ladies to Notts County. Lots of antipathy towards Notts County. Sympathy for their fans but its like Saints are to Pompey.

EDIT: I see Ray Trew sold the club today so hopefully they have a decent chairman now.

I was going to start a new thread on this, but it isn't Saints related. I think it is important enough to have it's own thread - let me know if people agree and I'll start one. I am sure this will be of interest to anyone who is or was a referee, or is involved in coaching kids football. If you are a parent of a youngster who plays in a team, please read and take heed.

This is going to be a problem for our sport at junior and grass roots levels.

That's appalling, but I'm fully behind it. I actually think the refs shouldn't have advertised their strike until the day of the games - let the idiots play without officials and see what happens. I've always thought football should have the same rules re referees as rugby, be I now see that grassroots rugby has an issue. We all have our opinions and can get wound up with what we see as wrong decision, but, as a player, you must respect it or face the consequences.

Perhaps that should have its own thread.

We could all try to provide ideas on how the abuse could stop and that could be fed into the chaps/FA.

Only issue I see is the FA are likely to do FA, along with people playing the game who continue to abuse.

I imagine that like stuff such as diving, this will only truly work uf clubs lose points/money

Every Sunday I witness poor behaviour. It is not always aggressive behaviour but I can guarantee that every single game our team play, there will be at least passive aggressive behaviour from the other team's coach towards the referee. They bully them quietly (sometimes not so quietly). I would guess that 75% of the referees we have at Under 16 level are aged 16-20. It is funny that when we get the odd burly 40+ year old referee the game, the coaches are not so vocal.

I am chuffed to bits for Dave. I really hope he is a success there and gets them to progress up the leagues and restores Dave's faith in football.
