    What kind of negotiations go from €18m straight to €40m? Surely there's some middle ground? Are arsenal that desperate?

    Whilst no one would spend money just for show, Arsenal fans are desperate to enter the big spending leagues. Arsenal are a good side, but for years now they have been short of that final spark. Leicester managed to win the league last year, but that is probably a one off....big clubs, buying the right players usually do the best. If a smaller club (wearing red and white stripes and from the South Coast) can't do it, I'd rather Arsenal won the league....just for variety.

    Porto are definitely the class act in that group and should progress in pole position with Leicester to join them in the knock-out phase!!

    This article provides a brief preview of the new La Liga season. Coverage is obviously given to the Big Three, Sevilla (who finished below Athletic) and the newly promoted sides. No preview at all for Athletic. Oh well, Athletic will just have to get their act together and beat the big boys in the domestics and win the EL unless Southampton are in the final. Unfortunately, Athletic are very slow starters but tend to finish the season like a derby winning horse.

    The European Super League will just be an excuse for a closed shop....how boring would that be....same old, same old. Look at the fun this season from having Leicester in the CL and United in the Europa. :)
