That's not the death sentence it used to be. About 15 years ago my second eldest brother was diagnosed with acute leukaemia. They gave him 5 years and then soon after his specialist started giving him more and more years because of the huge progress medicine has made in treating leukaemia. My brother is still here at 77 and the doctor now says he'll probably make it to 100. That's enough for anybody. And if he'd get off his arse more he'd be quite a fighting fit 77 too. Thankfully, he wouldn't visit this forum in a million years so I can say this truth without fear of repercussions. ;)

As far as I can see there are only 2 ex forwards managing premier league clubs. Mark Hughes and now David Wagner. Possible reason why there's a lack of excitement? Yes I know Stoke aren't the most exciting team but I doubt Lionel Messi would change that!

As you say thankfully, great strides in medicine and treatments has given a greater chance of survival/ extra years to those who are suffering from leukaemia, hopefully Carl is one of the lucky ones.
And we'll done to your brother for beating this awful disease :emoticon-0148-yes:

In all honesty, I wouldn't say it was my brother who beat off the disease. It was the fantastic strides of medicine. He just said YES, to every responsible new offer of the latest treatment from his specialist. His immune system is so good these days that colds have no conversation with him. He beats practically everything off because his immune system is in such great shape. I stand in the same room as him; I get the cold germ and the germ simply bounces off him. It is fantastic. This was and is one of those first medical strides after the human genome project was announced.
