Brilliant result, sets it up nicely for the 2nd leg too. PSG are missing Luiz and Matuidi for 2nd leg, fancy City there. I'd love to see Pellegrini win it in his last season. What a result for Wolfsburg too, a 2 goal lead n no away goal conceded, will rightly fancy their chances with that, only need a goal to make it very difficult for Real. All Q/F's quite interesting actually.
on BT Jake Humphrey just said 'one of the great things about these two clubs (Dortmund and Liverpool) is that their fans really understand football'.' This is something you hear pundits say reasonably often about Liverpool fans, which leads me to two questions: a) What does this actually mean? b) To be seen as particularly understnading the game, there must comparitively be fans of clubs wno DON'T understand the game. Which clubs fans are we to presume do not understand football?
Three ex Saints all having good games. Not entirely sure how I feel about that. Good first half from the scousers though.
Sevilla are not going to give up the EL trophy easily, if at all. They are perfectly suited to this competition and if anyone else is to win it, then Sevilla have to be beaten. Sadly it won't be Athletic because Sevilla have that edge in class. I do think Villareal will survive the return and lets have a La Liga semi (fingers crossed) and the best of luck to whoever goes to Shaktar!!
Perhaps as there is little animosity between Liverpool and Dortmund, the spirit of the match was played in an atmosphere considerably different to that between Liverpool and Stretford United thus allowing the game to have the headlines for a change.
