Lionel Messi made a cultural faux pas when he donated his football boots to charity in Egypt: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-trending-35920482 For a couple of decades at least I been aware of this cultural difference after seeing people hitting others with shoes, for example when a journalist threw his shoes at US President Bush [the article refers to this]. It's used as an insult. The sole of the shoe touches the dirty ground, so if one even donates a pair of shoes/boots that's considered wrong. Takes all sorts to make a world.

Jose Mourinho named as Nigeria coach, apparently. Didn't see that one coming! Ah, it's April the first.
I find Easter to be annoying, Valentines day pointless, but Fools day, who the **** invented that ****. Bah
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35935559 Information on the UEFA charges for Liverpool/United. Apparently the illicit chants charge is related to Manchester itself rather than the Munich disaster. So "manchester is full of ****" is enough for a UEFA charge? Wouldn't suprise me if these 2 got bigger fines than some Eastern European clubs do for racism. Talk about setting a dangerous precedent....
Does that mean we can look forward to being charged (when we play in the Europa next season ) for singing the "get your gun my son and shoot the Pompey scum" song?
Looks like the scum who did this is going to get away with it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-35946438
