Good to see the lad getting a chance. I'm not entirely convinced, but I think he and Dier have been the two best performing central midfielders in the premier league this season
Well, that must English midfielders. Drinkwater's teammates Kante, Mahrez and Albrighton have each been revelations. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Marc Albrighton got an England call up eventually.
I hate to say it, but it's hardly bust if they don't win the league. They'll be likely to finish Champions League which is great for them. Sadly.
Brilliant result in Valencia with Athletic squeezing through on away goals. Tough on Valencia but seeing as they were CL dropouts my sympathy ends there. My head says it will be a Borussia v Liverpool final, my heart wants Athletic to win this trophy. It is a club that promotes local talent. All the others left, import from all over the world.
Six La Liga teams through to the quarters. Coincidently these are the top 6 at present. And with two Portuguese teams in the mix, there is bound to be at least one Iberian match in the forthcoming round.
http://www.skysports.com/football/n...eague-may-not-guarantee-champions-league-spot I know this has been talked out about before, but Sky Sports have said what will happen if Liverpool and City both win their European competitions (yeah, right). The 4th team will drop into the Europa if City and Liverpool both win and aren't in the top 4. Awful lot of buts there, but worth knowing.
Good news that. And I hope Woy gets the credit he deserves for his willingness to take risks with his selections.
Always a difficult balancing act for a manager playing a friendly...wants to look at players and give them a chance, but also wants his likely team to get a run out.
Quite looking forward to these England games to be honest. Will be interesting to see how we line up without Rooney. I'd be tempted to play a diamond n something like: Hart Clyne Cahill Smalling Rose Dier Henderson Alli Barkley Kane Vardy As for Captain anyone but Henderson Nah in seriousness though gotta be Hart or Cahill. I know I'm gonna get shot down for having Rose over Bertrand, but I don't think you can underestimate the strength in having multiple players who play together at club level as well. Especially with Spurs doing so well this year I'd have all 4 of the above starting.
