Interesting read flt, always nice to hear views of other fans. Out of interest you say stadium holds about 52,000 and looking at expanding or moving. Do they really get that much support, do you know what their average gate is?
I was born in Southampton and have always been SFC through and through but I lived in Wales for 25 years and really want them to do well in the Euros!
Used to watch them in the mid 80s to late 90s. Ruddy good times helped by a cheapish bar and pies I remember one game (? friendly) where the sons of both M. Channon and A. Ball were playing. Though I may've dreamt that. My mate sponsored one of the players socks for some reason, cost him about £20 a season but he got his name in the programme every game which pleased him.
I played for them from 88/89 to 90/91 seasons (I think). I actually knew both Channon junior and Ball junior, but I don't recall ever playing against them in a friendly. They were both younger than me, so may have been after I left.
I'm Welsh through and through (born here, speak the language, spent over 20 years in London but came back 9 years ago). Growing up, the rest of the family all supported different teams so I wanted one of my own. Saw Ron Davies playing for Wales and the rest is history
If England were playing Wales in the Home Internationals and big Ron was playing I used to support Wales.
My earliest memories of Saints matches with a Welsh connection were of some brilliant tackles by Peter Rodrigues!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35359350 We are 22nd richest club so BBC make their cut off 20th! http://www.skysports.com/football/n...highest-earning-premier-league-club-in-201415
Me thinks you know who I am I scored on my debut (playing midfield then)..... can we leave it at that
This is why print at home tickets are a bad idea. Saints - scrap them now. I missed the start against Villa and Liverpool in the league cup because people were taking a long time to get through the turnstiles with them. They're ****ing ****. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-35369658
