Not worried sounds good. However, we can't afford to be found out too many times between now and May. Looking for a reaction against the very in-form Morecombe
Surely you felt right at home? And **** atmosphere? Ha! The 8,600 down the Mem make more noise that the 12k you get in your library.
i said in the car on the way to the game i had that funny feeling we will lose 2-1. we didnt deserve to win the game so i think the result was fair. we defended well for the 1st half but for me 2 lots of bad defending cost us 2 goals. anyinsah goal looked really good from where i was. ref was pants and didnt give us much all game although none of his wrong decisions effected us. a lot of our passing was sloppy and given away. i wasnt really impressed with our performance but you can see rotherham are a good side and made it difficult for us but we kept fighting. hammer went off injured and brunt who was limping while walking off the pitch at half time. for me anyinsah is lazy and just dont deserve a starting place but i thought he worked hard and got stuck in and played well and for me was our man of the match. credit where its due. their keeper looks old, i loved the chant "does your care home know your here" and at the end when the stewards come out and stand in front of the blackthorn end, the steward with longish white/silver hair and people was calling him jimmy saville we have some tough games coming up.
If that's what you call atmosphere I suggest you clean your ears out there was about 100 people singing, every now and then a few more would sing. It will sound bias but trust me a lot more noise is made at city. I was in the stand behind the goals Rotherham scored, Don't know what it was called was quiet more times than it was noisey, No doubt it would of been better if you were winning and playing well but it was indeed piss poor. Plus no other stands made any noise, Bit like at ours, I must of been in your version of our eastend
'Gypo' and 'coloured kiddy'? Are you sure that you're 20 and not 70? The last time I heard 'coloured' was in a 1970's sitcom!
Strange...as one of them is ex-City! Bb...I think there's more to this Shiny fellow than meets the eye .....mind you, there'd have to be!
Manager on last night's game John Ward was pleased with the effort and commitment from his team last night, despite seeing the side’s winning run come to an end. Rovers put in a dogged display against a Rotherham team favourites for promotion and the manager was pleased with their attitude. He said: “The commitment of the team is unquestionable and it has stayed level. That has got to be first and foremost. “We have a sign up in the dressing room that says ‘attitude, effort and ability’ and it has to be in that order, and that is what we have tried to do tonight and in other games. “We have played a team that is expected to get in the top three, and probably even win the league with the amount of money they have spent and the way they are, and we have run them really, really close. “It was only three weeks or so ago that we beat them at their ground as well, so on aggregate we have beat them. “We expected a difficult game against Rotherham United, and we have had that. Their celebrations at the end let me know they expected a difficult game from us and they got that. “I am disappointed with the goals, simply because of the way they have come about, very close together. If we keep it at one, we come back into the game and take something away. “I cannot fault the effort of my team and I cannot fault the effort of my supporters, and together we have had a positive go and that is what everyone wants to see.” The manager against commented on the ‘togetherness’ of the fans and the team. He said: “We conceded the first goal and by the time the ball is on the spot they are singing and cheering for the team again, and that is what we have go to try and do here. “There is a real togetherness. The fans know that there are hearts on sleeves in the team and we have a real good go. “I think Bristol Rovers supporters will be pleased with the team’s efforts and they will come back to the next game. “This is a super club with good people right the way through. We have the team representing the club in the right manner, and that is absolutely vital.”
Rotherham United boss Steve Evans tips John Ward to assemble promotion-chasing Bristol Rovers squad Rotherham United boss Steve Evans is tipping John Ward to assemble a Bristol Rovers squad capable of chasing promotion next season. Evans saw his side avenge the 3-1 defeat Rovers served up at the New York Stadium on January 26 by winning the reverse fixture 2-1 at the Memorial Stadium on Tuesday night. The Rotherham boss was still highly complimentary of the job Ward has done since taking over a relegation-threatened Rovers from Mark McGhee in December – but also questioned some of the Memorial Stadium players after his watching his side end the Pirates’ recent six-game unbeaten run. “We probably didn’t have as many problems in terms of the chances Rovers created as we had anticipated,” said Evans. “We knew we’d be in for a tough game because statistics don’t lie. We were up against a team that had won six of their last seven games, which is unbelievable. “John Ward deserves full credit for that as do his players, but if I was the manager I’d be asking myself: Why didn’t these players perform like that when Mark McGhee was here? “I’m seeing players not running a yard earlier in the season and yet they are now prepared to climb Ben Nevis for John Ward and that’s not right. I think one or two of those players should hang their heads in shame. “I thought about that when I selected my own team ahead of the game and I knew that we’d need players that would put the kettle on and give me their full commitment and desire to match what John is getting from his players at the moment. “I don’t know Mark McGhee that well but I am sad for him when I see the way things have changed in recent weeks. One of our scouting reports actually said: one wonders what these players were doing earlier in the season. “Rovers supporters will be pleased with how John has turned it around, but if those players had done that earlier in the season they would be in the top three now. “John deserves all the plaudits for doing a great job and if your looking for a team to be in the running for promotion next season then you wouldn’t go far wrong with Bristol Rovers. “Whenever you come to Bristol Rovers as an opposition manager you know you will face a very difficult test. “It is an outstanding football club that, like Rotherham, should be competing to be in the Championship and not in League Two.” Joe Anyinsah, meanwhile, is confident that Rovers can bounce back from their Tuesday night setback by embarking on another long unbeaten run. Anyinsah, who scored an 80th minute consolation strike in the 2-1 reverse said: We are disappointed with the goals we conceded. We made a couple of individual errors, which has been unlike us in recent times. “We can’t let our heads drop. It is a little setback, but we need to pick ourselves up quickly and try and get on another run. “The manager was very positive about the performance afterwards. He told us we had to learn from our mistakes and that it was very important that we don’t let all the hard work we have put in over the last few games go to waste. “We have got ourselves in a good position in the league. Everything is in our own hands and if we keep doing the things we have been doing consistently then we should be fine.”
I knew who Clarkson was but didn't get too see him as he was at the other end. Up the Rotherham. Theres only one david noble, One david Noooooooooble
Shiny the atmoshere was non existant you are quite correct in that assesment, Not the best match to attend (if in fact you did actually)? had you have come on the Friday we played Barnet not only was the football on show seriously better, the atmosphere was electric almost like a cup match. As for Noble he plays the Knob to perfection what a wind up merchant also trying to influence the refs decisions that did not work as Lininton never made any decisions all night may as well have stayed in the refs changing room. Surely at least you must have enjoyed the Pub Landlord skit played by Angry Manager Evans, following the series of heated exchanges with the ref who was hiding on the other side of the pitch. Not content with that he exchanged volleys of abuse with the fans behind the dugouts and gave the 4th official a roasting lasted about 20 mins highlight of the match comical absurd he should have received the red card but the ref was too scared to get involved so ignored it as if it did not happen. Tuck you fat belly in your ill fitting trousers 5 dinner Evans. COR
shiny, anyinsah is the guy your talking about. he is the ex city. o'toole is the other which is who you said you wanted at city a few years ago i dont think the atmosphere was non existant COR and not piss poor shiny. its been worse. it was ok but not the best i agree. nothing to be proud of but there was still an atmosphere. you are right though shiny, the other 3 sides are quiet and usually are. i was in one of the other stands on saturday and i couldnt stand how quiet it was.
